Kuechly breaking down a play

I wasn’t sure where to share this but it’s pretty awesome. I miss watching him play

I don’t think most people understand at what level many of the smarter, better football players operate at in the NFL. You’ve initially got the play recognition on the audible and protection shift by who I assume was the Panthers OLB, Thomas Davis, Kuechly agreeing to the change to Cover 2, sitting on the route and making the play.

I know something similar happens in many if not most plays without that kind of result, but it’s still awesome to see.

Translate that to most of our Saturday mornings over the last twenty years were we’re just hoping our MLB fits the right hole, or we don’t lose a WR in a coverage handoff, or on the other side of the ball the receiver and QB both make the same inside or outside coverage read on read route.

Looks a little like football.

Yea, that left me in the jargon dust. I mean I tracked it, but that was beyond my "get the guy with the ball" MLB instructions I was edumacated in by the corches I played for. I know it's early and I'm only on my 1st cup of coffee, but its time for me to admit that I'm at an intermediate fan level of knowledge about the game. And I'm OK with that.

That's the difference between a good player and a great one. It's not about being a bit faster or stronger or more agile, but about taking a whole lot of information in, making and communicating decisions effectively. Football at many positions is very cerebral.
