Wiltfong update on Merritt and Jones:
Overland Park (Kan.)
Blue ValleyOn300 linebacker
Dawson Merrittseemed close to committing to Alabama a couple times.
Nebraska has been the deterrent.
More than ever the Huskers look like they have momentum for the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Merritt who ranks as the country’s No. 10 linebacker and No. 87 prospect overall.
Merritt has been in communication with the Huskers and On3 is told that dialogue continues to pick up. He loves what Alabama does schematically and his fit and he continues to have dialogue with the Huskers on that front.
Nebraska currently has 10 commits in the 2025 class and linebacker recruiting is really starting to pick up.
Omaha (Neb.)
Westside On300 linebacker
Christian Jones is on his official visit to Lincoln and sources say that’s going well.
While at 247Sports I predicted Jones to Nebraska nearly a year ago. Close to doing the same at On3. He was at Auburn last weekend so looking to see how this visit compares.
Jones is the trademark Matt Rhule recruit. A hard-nosed, plus-athlete for the position he plays. An explosive, fast player that has a lot of upside as a second-level defender.
Landing both would obviously be strong for Rhule and his staff and it’s starting to look like an exciting possibility.
A link to the current Nebraska class here, which already includes in-state linebacker Pierce Mooberry.
