Also Rhule and Co. were behind the 8 ball with 2024 kids no matter what.
Well we could have hired assistant coaches who have been in the college game the last few years and already had relationships/ been in on recruits of their own…… but nah, what sense would that make?

Strange. Didn't Hall just say a week or two ago that he and Nebraska have parted ways?

This 4 star OT visited Auburn las weekend and says he has a trip planned to Nebraska - could it be this weekend? A surprise visitor?

AUBURN, Alabama — Preston Taumua was a long way from home this weekend. But, the Aiea, Hawaii, native still felt pretty comfortable on the Plains for his official visit.

"The visit went well," Taumua said. "Felt like it really family-oriented, everybody treated me like family. The whole team treated me like I was part of the team already."

Did he feel comfortable?

"For sure, even though the guys here aren’t from Hawaii, they treated me like they were from Hawaii," Taumua said. "That’s how family-based it was."

There was one minor hiccup, though.

"It was kind of weird because they don’t have no rice over here, they always use potatoes," Taumusa said. "But it’s probably going to grow on me if I do come here, the potatoes are good though, I’ll give it to them."

Ranked as the No. 200 player, No. 8 interior offensive lineman and No. 1 player from Hawaii, Auburn is looking to go all the way across the country to try and land Taumua. Part of what has given Auburn that option to do that is tight ends coach Ben Aigamaua.

While Aigamua is not his position coach, he's been the primary recruiter for Taumua so far leading up to his visit.

"Coach Ben, he’s from Samoa and my dad’s from Samoa so they talked a lot," Taumua said. "Coach Ben’s brother actually lives in Hawaii, so he flies back and forth to Hawaii and he usually visits me in Hawaii. If I was to come here I’d probably lean on him the most."

This weekend was his first main chance to really get to talk with offensive line coach Jake Thornton.

"Coach Jake is full of energy," Taumua said. "I didn’t expect him to be that small though, he’s kind of an unusual-sized O-line coach. But he’s good, he told me what the O-line is looking like this year and I feel like if I was to come here I’d probably be a freshman starter."

At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Taumua is another one of the swing offensive lineman that Auburn is recruiting to play guard or tackle.

He's already taken an official visit to Arizona and has trips planned to Alabama and Nebraska, with the goal of also getting out to Oregon. From those five, he'll make his decision.

"August 24th for sure," Taumua said. "That’s the commitment date."

How does Auburn stack up with each school? Well, it's a little too early to tell.

"I’ll see how these next two visits go and then probably compare all of them," Taumua said.

I will be staying in Aiea at the end of July. Let me know if I need to bring a bag of cash with me.

Reason for spots opening for Hall & Guthrie?

Likely because Jacory Barney really liked A&M and wants to go back for as game in the fall, and Miami is having him OV later.

His DB Friend Amare Sanders visited (UV) Florida this weekend.

They probably said no, or didn't commit by a deadline.

So far, that initial 6/2 weekend that appeared to go so well has resulted only in Buford. Always have to take first visit comments with a grain of salt.

We may never see McGahee in Lincoln for an OV I am guessing

Good catch @Carm, Dean just confirmed he's on campus today through Wednesday for an OV.

I was wondering what was going on with Barney. Seemed like he was a sure thing then it went silent.
