2026 CB Elbert Hill. (Matt Parker/Lettermen Row)
Ohio State suffered a blow to the 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday when four-star safety Jakob Weatherspoon flipped his commitment to North Carolina. The Avon (Ohio) native had been committed to the Buckeyes since Jan. 2.

Now that he’s left the class, who are some players that Ohio State fans should monitor for potential flips?

Let’s take a look.

Elbert Hill

Until Hill signs with USC it’ll be somewhat of a head-scratcher that he didn’t give the Buckeyes more of a look during his recruitment. Hill really fell in love with USC, Los Angeles and coach Lincoln Riley during his trips to campus. But things change quickly in the recruiting world.

If the Trojans struggle this season and the Buckeyes circle back will the dynamic playmaker give the in-state school another look? Hill lives 100 miles from Columbus and could easily visit campus for a game day visit in the fall if he chooses to.

Danny Odem

The Buckeyes got the Orlando (Fla.) First Academy native on campus for an official visit over the June 13 weekend. Odem ended up picking Nebraska over Ohio State and Clemson the first time around. There were a lot of whispers that Nebraska came through in the end with a stronger NIL package that the Buckeyes were not willing to match at that point.

Does that change now that the program will need another defensive back? It could and the Buckeyes will be tough for Nebraska to beat on the trail twice for a prospect.
