I hope Raiola returns. But there's a chance he doesn't right?

Who should Nebraska pursue?

Here's a couple of names to start the conversation. I have no idea if any of them are available or not. Just some thoughts.
  • Drew Mestemaker, North Texas - Top 3 in the nation in efficiency. 31/7 TD/Int, 4,129 yards - coach left for Oklahoma St, I think he'll be in high demand. He's only a RS freshman so not sure if that's the route Nebraska would want to take. Not a runner
  • Brendan Sorsby, Cincinati - has 1 more year, we all know about him
  • Josh Hoover, TCU - His OC is likely moving to South Carolina. He was 24th in pass efficiency (Raiola was 16). Has thrown for 9600+ yards in his career. 71 TD and 33 Int. Not a runner.
  • Colton Joseph, Old Dominion - Will have 2 years left, threw for 2,624 yards, 60% comp., 21 TD, 10 Int. He also ran for 1,007 yards. Side note...Ricky Rahne would be a sweet hire for OC.
  • Alona Barnett III, JMU - Has 1 year left, threw for 2500 and ran for about 500 yards in both 2024 and 2025. 47 TD and 13 INT in those 2 years.
  • Sam Leavitt, Arizona State - Sounds like he's gone from ASU. Thrown for 34 TD and 9 INT and ran for 749 yards the past 2 years at ASU. Sounds like the relationship between him and ASU has soured.

Colton Joseph is interesting. I don't know if he's a Big 10 QB. But he's interesting. TCU's offense fell off late in the season is that a Josh Hoover issue or TCU team issue? What the heck happened between ASU and Leavitt? Was he a Skattebo merchant?

Pretty sure Mestemaker is going to Okie St.

Sorsby is already receiving $3 million plus offers.

I think Leavitt would be the best play.

Gotta think Sam Leavitt is headed to someone big.

Oregon? (isn't he from there?)
Alabama?

Some contender is paying for this dude, right? Somebody is gonna be willing to over pay.

Can't be Michigan or OSU.

Indiana?

FSU will be shopping, right? Florida?

Speaking of willing to over pay....LSU, right?

Whatever is going to happen (I am not anti-Dylan either), we need to happen soon so we can have a great plan. I'm always a fan of lower level guys coming up than P4 guys moving laterally.

Gimme ODU or JMU QB all day.
Ideally we want a QB who can run a little give, we seem to be recruiting for that, and will likely have the most traction with an older guy (1-2 years left) who would believe he would start over Lateef.

That doesn't mean he needs to be a starter currently - if he is a guy who has gotten some starts but is stuck behind someone else at present that would work. That profile might also give enough encouragement to Lateef that he stays another year believing he can compete for the job successfully.

If we truly have plenty of money for everything I would vote for Sorsby. Something doesn't feel right with Leavitt to me. But I am with the good Dr - I expect it to be a serviceable and efficient lower tier guy.

I want a guy who has won a ton of games. I watched gronowski play like dogshit all year but drag his team along mentally into believing they could beat two top 5 teams. Team needs to import leadership. Even when they had opportunities they still didn't know how to win. Idk if Raiola has it in that regard and there's still some stink of losing culture around here

Give me a lesser qb who can elevate his teammates mentally over a guy who doesn't know success every single time

Sorsby is gonna command a lot of money methinks.

But he might fit in with the power running game that Rhule wants to establish next year
