Not trying to be hot-take guy, I just don't like the way that game sets up for us. Here's my reasons:
1. Purdue is coming off a bye week/they'll be fresher team
2. Ryan Walters will easily be able to shut our offense down (esp w 2 weeks prep)
3. If NU offense plays like they did today they'll lose
4. Hudson Card will be able to do more against our D than Altmeyer or Sullivan did
5. NU injuries piling up & will catch up with us
6. Purdue is actually not as bad as their record indicates (see schedule)
7. Purdue's entire season rests on beating NU (look at the following week)
HERB'S ANALYSIS: I think at this point Rhule has to trot out something different next week. We can't keep rolling out the same NIU/LTU/ILL/NW gameplan and expect to keep winning. Ryan Walters is too good on defense and he'll be able I shut NU's predictable offense down, again especially w 2 weeks to prepare for it.
You have to keep starting Haarberg (he's 4-1), but I think Rhule has to build in some Sims series. Give him 3 series in the first 3 quarters & see what he can do. I'm a fan of keeping it going w HH but at the same time he did not progress today - he actually looked worse than he did vs Illinois. I just think if we roll this exact same thing out vs Purdue we'll lose.
