I think Purdue wins next week (NU needs a new wrinkle: Sims) (3 Viewers)

Not trying to be hot-take guy, I just don't like the way that game sets up for us. Here's my reasons:

1. Purdue is coming off a bye week/they'll be fresher team
2. Ryan Walters will easily be able to shut our offense down (esp w 2 weeks prep)
3. If NU offense plays like they did today they'll lose
4. Hudson Card will be able to do more against our D than Altmeyer or Sullivan did
5. NU injuries piling up & will catch up with us
6. Purdue is actually not as bad as their record indicates (see schedule)
7. Purdue's entire season rests on beating NU (look at the following week)

HERB'S ANALYSIS: I think at this point Rhule has to trot out something different next week. We can't keep rolling out the same NIU/LTU/ILL/NW gameplan and expect to keep winning. Ryan Walters is too good on defense and he'll be able I shut NU's predictable offense down, again especially w 2 weeks to prepare for it.

You have to keep starting Haarberg (he's 4-1), but I think Rhule has to build in some Sims series. Give him 3 series in the first 3 quarters & see what he can do. I'm a fan of keeping it going w HH but at the same time he did not progress today - he actually looked worse than he did vs Illinois. I just think if we roll this exact same thing out vs Purdue we'll lose.

Yeah I was thinking about this earlier and agree with you.

The combination of them coming off a bye week, our offense being so banged up and horrible, and our secondary being the weakness of our defense make me pretty bearish on the Huskers next week.

We need a 24 hour rule to enjoy these rare wins!

Don’t you put this negative shit on us so soon. We’ll get back to reality tomorrow.

I just started adding up these factors RE: Purdue. They've been better than their 2-5 record shows. I'm sure they're still playing hard for their coach. They have Michigan the week after us, which is a guaranteed loss. I'm sure they're still pushing to keep bowl hopes alive.

Purdue basically has their entire season come down to next week's Nebraska game. If they lose to us, they're 2-7 w the snap of a finger and then looking at Frost-like catastrophe 1st season for Walters. Remember, Purdue was not a rebuild - their coach left because he'd been too successful and was poached by another school (his alma mater, yes).

So however good you think Purdue is, there's about a 99.9999% chance that we will get Purdue's best game of 2023. Plus they're coming off a bye.

I'm not trying to shit in everyone's Cheerios, I just starting adding all this up about next week's game and just realized it's actually going to be extremely tough.

Temps in the 40s, windy, rainy on Saturday... Shoot it into Matt Rhule's veins. Forecast is calling for 2 inches of Snow in Western and Northern Nebraska on Saturday. Slight chance of snow in Lincoln on Sunday.

Forecasts obviously change a lot though in 5 days.

We definitely need better QB play. Hoping our young receivers keep improving and gaining confidence. Don't know about our O Line - is Ben Scott able to play against Purdue? I think our two replacement O Line guys for our two injured guys actually did fine, but having Ben Scott back would be a good thing.

Defensively, we obviously need to get pressure again. Purdue will score more than 9 pts. Probably somewhere in the 20's for pts. We need to be upper 20's in pts, hopefully in the 30's.

With our defense, I feel like we have a good shot, but it is another toss-up type of game. But we have been winning those lately.

Can we move the game to Valentine?

I hope that this once and for all puts to bed whatever crack brained riddled notion people have in their heads about Jeff Sims offering anything positive as a QB who actually plays.

Great character guy though. The "she's got nice tits though" of a butterface
