I’m still N on Rhule, but..

DRs decision making will speed up and he’s a damn good QB. But I do wonder if we reinvested his NIL into keeping lateef and adding another tackle and a big NT if it would be a net positive, especially if that includes an upgrade at OL coach with it.

Can be a lesson in big boy football for Dylan. Yes that's your uncle. He clearly hasn't produced and needs to go. Are you going to quit because of that decision?

Sometimes you gotta weigh your options and choose the path that has the best probability for success and/or improvement…

1st option: You can keep Donnie, knowing you’ll like be saddled with an average to below average offensive line and hope your QB and RB can find a way to succeed under those circumstances.

2nd Option: Fire your oline coach knowing it may cost you your starting QB, but provide you with the opportunity to actually have an elite or successful offensive line.

I see way more upside with option #2. Trying to develop and recruit all world skill players that can somehow be successful in adverse situations seems far more risky and it’s not really the formula the Ohio States, Alabamas, Michigans and Georgias of the world are using. JMO

When is it gonna speed up? We are now over 1.5 years into what was expected to be a three year stay here. Over halfway.

Yup, need to keep Lateef, Taylor and Dayton too. (optional, if firing Donnie cost us both Dylan and Dayton I can live with that) Anyway, fire Donnie and make a $eriou$ commitment to getting a good OL coach and few top dollar portal transfer.

I hate to say it but college football has become (on a macro level) about as simple as checkers. You hire a smart coach at any cost, then you get him the best players money can buy. That’s it…

Good Coach + Elite NIL funding = Winning

Rhule acts like the players’ mother. Always has. Cares a lot about feelings and emotions.

He’s soft and so is his team.

Well, if we’re gonna oversimplify the situation to that degree might as well just say… “Rhule sucks” and leave it at that.

Also, since last season I refer to Rhule as Simon. Bill Paxton's character in True Lies. Used car salesman. Considering my last two posts you'd think I'm out on Rhule, but I'm not. I really want him to figure it out. But IMO changes need to be made. This might be the worst OL I've seen at Nebraska, and we've had some bad ones the past 15 years.

The vet, get em wet

The plain and simple truth is that Rhule is in his 4th season and has not been able to either run the ball effectively or stop the opponents from doing so. That’s failure, especially in the B1G. In addition, he hired an initial staff that was historically bad (& we all knew it at the time).

I don’t need to see more to know what’s going to happen. This isn’t good football, NU isn’t close to good football, MR isn’t the guy.

I think Dylan is solid, but I also don’t think he is a top 4 qb in the BIG this year.

I like Dylan and I think he could be a top 4 QB in the B1G, under the right circumstances. But I also don’t think he’s good enough for us to remain annually saddled with a poor offensive line. If firing Donnie costs us our starting QB, that’s something I’ve decided I can live with.

A shitty oline doesn’t just mean your QB gets sacked all the time and looks like crap, it also means you can’t run the ball. All bad things…

i see him at best the 5th best qb in the BIG. He might be closer to 6-7.

There is zero chance Raiola is going to NFL after 3 seasons. In fact, I don’t even think he looks like a NFL backup at this point. Can’t throw the deep ball, immobile, slow processor.

He is a poor man’s Shadeur Sanders, who was a much better down the field passer, and he barely got drafted as a senior .

I agree. That’s why I said what was expected to be.

What you are really saying without saying it is Raiola doesn't appear to have enough juice to justify the squeeze.

He’s a solid QB. If he transferred to some pass happy school in the SEC or Big 12 he would put up big numbers and get drafted high.

But at this point I question whether it is worth it for us to keep paying him what we are paying him.

You can't spell i-m-m-o-b-i-l-e without it turning into immobile on this fascist site? Why are you protecting the Raiolas Garrett?

Well, to be more specific… I’m saying the Uncle Donnie and Dylan Raiola combo don’t have enough juice to justify the squeeze.

Now Dylan by himself with a proven Oline coach…? That might be worth the squeeze. We’ve never seen that so it’s hard for me to definitively say that. But I’m inclined to believe he could be.

So I guess what I’m really saying is Donovan Raiola is no longer worth the squeeze. Which I suppose makes Dylan the juice.

Great start… “plain and simple truth” except for that this is year 3.
