I’m hoping it doesn’t turn out this way…but Frost is retained

I'd be pretty excited if that happens. But I'd place the probability at about the same as me and Jim ending our blood feud, becoming life partners, and settling down to live out the end of our days in a cabin in Maine
So have you guys settled on the model of cabin? A-Frame? Something a little more traditional. Happy for you two!

I would be very shocked if we make a move after this year.... I would say 90% likelihood Frost is the coach next year.

Now I can't say the same for Austin, Mario or a few others on the offensive staff.

I do think my dark skinned brother has this right.
He could lose out, blow both Jim and Baron and he stays after this year…definitely some assistants shown the door in the process.

Yes you can... it just comes down to what you are looking at. : 3-5...continually underachieving. Not his 1st or 2nd year. Clear pattern so I disagree. There was improvement until last week. Scott Frost has said himself this is the best team he's had.....3-5. I mean if that's improvement...yikes.
I am not making this argument. I am simply listening to what Turd has said. 3-5 is immaterial in this discussion given what Turd has said.

Is RB play better? I'd say no. They can't run anything up the middle. Option game and outside runs are helping stats. Average B1G backs at best imo. I don't view Rhamir as anything other than a back that will take what is given to him. There isn't a back on the roster that can create anything. I'm holding out hope for Yant.
So Johnson going from basically a foot out the door to a pretty good B1G back isn't an improvement? Is most of what you said an indictment on the backs or on the OL?

Yant needs to do some of the little things better. You can't get tackled by the 2 yard line and you can't go the wrong way.

Is special teams play better or worst post MSU (minus an injured kicker)? it went from a colossal train wreck to ok.
I think they have been a bit better than ok. The only one right now in that time frame I would say is ok is the punt return unit. Our coverage unit has buttoned up a lot of things and they were strained vs Michigan. Michigan had some dudes returning.

Is the defense playing better? No. First punt for Minnesota was in the 3rd quarter. But it's been pretty good this year no doubt.
so yes...

Is Martinez playing better (yes he didn't play perfect vs MN, but was also not 100%)? No. He's been playing well, but it's still the same issues with reads and decision making that will always hold him back to a extent. He is what he is, that will never change at this stage in his career.
Completely disagree. He is a very good QB considering what he has been dealt here. I think it is insane to expect perfection given his pressure rate. You try making perfect decision in under 2 seconds then get hit by 300lbs dudes on half of your passes. It is insane that he is a top 10 QB nationally by EPA given that.

Then recruiting....woof. That ain't getting any better any time soon. Long term I don't see much of anything to like minus some of the current talent on the roster. But if you can't do anything with it anyway.....what's the point.
What benefit is there to hitting 4 year guys hard when next years roster is set to be very young? Something like 70 players next year will have 3 or more years of eligibility left. I will be curious to see what they do in the portal and juco market. I value that more this cycle.

Sheesh. We are just gonna have to agree to disagree. I understand what you're saying about Turd though. Don't agree but I get it.

This isn't a winning product. It's not heading in the direction of a winning product. Ultimately you can break down each one of the things you listed...end of the day it's about wins and losses. Except if you're Turd Alberts and the NU administration....then it might just be about 'progress'.

I'm a fan of the portal and juco guys...always have been. However, you're argument is pretty convenient excuse for justifying awful recruiting in the HS ranks this year. If there is no benefit I'm not sure why they have chosen to take 8 of them so far. There's literally always a benefit to bringing in good young talent...in any sport...college or pros.

I feel like you need a completely lost locker room and/or major blowouts to close the season to make any kind of change. This year doesn't really feel like 07 or 2017.

In all seriousness, what guidelines does an AD need to set for a coach to succeed?

If Frost didn’t have access to resources, I’d put that on the AD - but I haven’t heard any concerns like that?

If Frost doesn’t know how to act like an adult or lead a program without an AD holding his hand - doesn’t really seem like he should be leading a Power 5 program to me.

He’ll probably be retained because he’s Scott Frost, but based on results he should be gone.
I am relying on others comments (Damon, Turd, etc..) in saying this.

Turd saying things like.... the athletic department was unified and that isn't setting up a coach for success.

Damon saying things like being given too much rope isn't a good thing when discussing the day to day.

I get the sense that given the comment it isn't like needing a flight and being told no. I mean they are building a huge new football facility. I get the sense it has to do with hiring a young, and while talented coach, he was not a complete coach. He needed growth in game management, day to day operations and leadership....

The question for Turd is Frost the solution or the problem? If he can be the solution and what has lead to the record is fixable, you keep him and work on fixing it. My guess is given what Turd has done YTD this is the camp he is falling into.

Ya I am just using what Turd has said.

I imagine most fans will agree with you and think it has to be more based on the end results.

I am not saying to take no 4 year guys. I think there is more benefit to infusing some older/experienced guys into this roster for next year.

What is currently happening is currently not a winning product. Anybody who says anything differently is full of shit.

I can see the framework for a good team going forward. I think you desperately need to do something like hiring a good OL coach and promoting a coach like Busch to special teams/recruiting coordinator and associate HC.

Fair enough - I have a hard time believing that other Power 5 coaches need handholding to succeed after four years, but I’m not an insider, don’t know Turd’s thought process, and I guess we’ll see how it plays out.

We're not that far off from each others thinking on some parts. My opinion on recruiting is there always has to be a blend. In the past I would of said 80-90% HS 10-20% anything else. The portal can't be ignored now. It's to relevant. So now it'd be more like a 70-30 depending on situation. In the portal and juco you're buying that used car though. I'm fine with the risk I just think it always starts with HS and you go from there. Ultimately talent is talent and you have to get the best talent you can, however you can obviously. With the 70 guys you mentioned, if you like the group you have (which i obviously have no idea what their opinion on that is) I'd want to be building behind it instead of lumping in more players into the group of 70.

I fundamentally disagree that SF should be allowed to make coaching changes while he himself is retained. I see it as: It was Frost's decision not to change anything. He can live with the consequences of that. I see what you're saying, but that's where we'll disagree.

How many beards combined with skinny jeans and skull caps did you see?
A good number. One pair in particular where, it looked like a couple, were walking out of Krispy Kreme. Man and woman, both same long hair, dude had a beard, glasses, no skinny jeans but both probably 3 bills and not a care in the world about their health. Pretty cringy. Also saw a girl walking on a side walk with just straight dyed blue hair wearing multiple layers of jackets on not a cold day.
