Hopefully this helps

what are you doing OP? (Work, vacation?)

Alone or with family?

Food scene is easy, London has the best Indian and French food in the world and British food sucks except for fish and chips.

The Champions League Final is on May 28th and will most likely feature two English teams. (Albeit niether from London)

Being at the pub for the game would probably be a pretty wild time especially if you find some fans of one of the teams. (Be careful with that though)

Now the rest of you can decide, was this a serious suggestion or smartass?

Vacay with wife and two boys(12 and 15).

There are all the obvious famous spots: Big Ben & Parliment, Tower of London, the Eye, the Shard, 221 B Baker St, Buckingham, Wembley, Wimbledon, etc and spend a ton of money shopping at Piccadilly and Covent. (I fucking hate both of them)

But here are some that I think would be fun for everybody

Wife: take her to a West end show just to say you did it + wife will probably like it. (similar to Broadway, women usually are into that shit)

Boys: Tons of cool Museums, based on their age I’m assuming they don’t think Dinosaurs are cool anymore but would fucking love the Military museums and world history ones. (Just don’t ask how the British got all the “artifacts” and “jewels” from around the world…)

Based on when you are going: go see the Gardens, any of the Royal gardens are insane but Kew is my favorite. It’s a huge botanical garden. (makes Lauritzen in Swimtown look like a backyard)

PS: if you can, get out of London for at least 1 day, “rural” England is far superior. (Air quotes around “rural” cuz nowhere in the UK is “rural” like we think of the term, too many people and in close proximity compared to here)

If you can get out of going to Stonehenge do it, extremely overrated. (its like ok this looks exactly like the pictures now what?)

PS: Go to Paris sooner in the trip than later cuz Paris in the summer is hot, humid and fucking sucks generally. (like NYC, cities that dense and busy can make a 85 degree day feel like its 100) The river will sometimes stink on windless days and the constant traffic is not "charming" when there is no AC. But god damn do I appreciate how slutty their women are and how everybody still smokes cigs.

Run the Damn Champs-Elysee

Last time I was in London I remember updating the Mainboard boys in the MLPFC thread about my "highlights" which someone pointed out almost exclusively were me drinking booze somewhere away from my wife's yuge family.

I'm the same guy no matter where I'm at in the world baby.

My wife's old parents are coming....I guess I am already the asshole for saying we aren't waiting for the OLDS to catch up.

They invited themselves to our vacay but I will be the asshole when we don't want to do wait if they want if sleep in until 11 AM....

my wife was born in London and still has like 50 relatives across England, everywhere I wanted to go was criticized as being a "tourist trap"

its like hey cunts I'm from rural Nebraska, this is only the 2nd time I've ever been to London I AM a tourist

As far as the big cities go I prefer Manchester over London but both are superior to Liverpool. I'd fucking kill myself if I had to live in any of them tho.

A lot of great recommendations here. I lived/worked in London for a couple of years in my past life and the best advice I can give you is to just buy a full pass for the tubes, grab a map, and go see whatever you want on your own as opposed to taking a double decker bus tour. When I first moved there, that's what I did and it was the best. It gave you the chance to just take your time at wherever you wanted to spend it instead of being on someone else's schedule.

Places like Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, or St. James Park are really cool and you can find yourself wanting to spend more time there. Just walking up and down the Thames River is awesome. Lots of stuff there from Tower Bridge (don't confuse this for London Bridge, which isn't anything special), to the Eye of London, to the Globe Theater, to all of the cool vendors. I'm a huge Shakespeare buff, so the Globe Theater was awesome for me.

As mentioned, the West End is really cool. Don't buy full priced tickets, there are tons of discount ticket brokers down there.
