Surprisingly MS doesn't have a lot of transfers. They recruited these players from other youth programs starting in 3rd grade.


Other youth programs will tell you MS was kicked out of the Metro Youth Football League because they were recruiting other players. MS will tell you they allowed a suspended coach to still coach. The ironic thing is, the youth program director, who was in charge when they were booted was also the volunteer coach suspended for housing the out of state players.

I remember watching the state championship last year and they brought up on tv both teams had a lot of transfers. What was up with the two players living with the coach this year too?

My cousins kid is the backup QB for Prep. He's been getting a little more meaningful playing time lately. Maybe he'll play against you guys and score multiple tuddys.

Someone told me they were from KC and that’s why the coach got suspended but I didn’t know if it was a bullshit story.

The two brothers you're referring to in your post live(d) in the KS City area and played on the Jr. Patriots teams growing up. They transfered up here to play with their childhood friends/teammates and are living with a family friend who was a volunteer assistant coach.

To address the first part, there's still plenty of poaching of players going on in MYFL.

His travel team canceled their season, so they drove up to Omaha 1-2 times a week for practice and once a week for games. The volunteer coach's family became good family friends with these boy's family. The dad tried getting a job in Omaha, but couldn't find anything that made financial sense to move to Omaha. MJ wanted to play with his Junior Patriot teammates for his senior year, so he started living with the assistant coach with his brother.

Well that's certainly understandable. Not sure why it's turned into such a big deal.

People look for excuses to hate MS. The reality is that they've worked within the rules to create the greatest NE high school football team I've ever seen.

I guess my main question is how many of the starters don’t live in the Millard South School district? Is it only a couple or a lot more?

I don't have a solid answer on how many live in-district. 17 of 22 starters played in the Jr Patriots program.

They had a solid foundation in 3rd grade and they recruited these kids starting in the Jr Patriots program after.

Jett should be at Elkhorn South, but his dad had a falling out with a 5th grade coach, so recruited to Jr Patriots then.

Amarion’s team folded so Jr Patriots picked him up.

They did get a few transfers like Wheeler from Grand Island.

What they and Westside did over the last few years has ruined Class A football for the foreseeable future. It was going down this path for several years now, but this is the nail that sealed Class A's fate.

Until LPS, OPS, and NSAA all make serious changes, Class A will be like this for a long time.

You're leaving out BW who really initiated this.

LPS has always had open enrollment (option enrollment), from what I understand. OPS is open. The only closed Class A districts that I'm aware of are Elkhorn and Gretna.

I get the rules are the rules. If they don’t make kids play in their school districts, only 2-3 teams will ever have a chance to win it. It doesn’t seem like a hard fix, but maybe I’m missing something.

For OPS Central and North do it, but will never be able to at the level of the Millard Schools.
