Gubernatorial Thread

If I was running her campaign it would be more than her running mate that I'd change. Problem is she's 100% a Trumper. Not in a bad way like everything is over the top (although her cardiologist husband is a covid denier on the record. Not so sure that isn't different off. He's usually a pretty sensible guy.
Like that it wasn’t a real thing?

Not even close to that level.

First of all I shouldn't have even posted that. I'm certainly guilty of that more often than not. I better explain myself now though.

The information I have is through a mutual friend. I've never had a conversation with Joe directly about it. Mutual friend is very much a Trumper. Like 100% bought into any conspiracy theory (or non concensus viewpoint) that favors Trump or negative against democrats.

Joe is a cardiologist so his name brings weight to any covid or medical conversation. Whenever I would disagree with mutual friend particularly in reference to the vaccines he would say "even Joe says....".

So in reality that could mean a lot of things. Mutual friend could have misrepresented what Joe actually said whether intentionally or unintentionally. Joe could seem like he's in agreement with something mutual friend said just to avoid an argument (I've certainly done this a few times with mutual friend).

So based on conversations with mutual friend I have an impression of Joe's opinions. In reality they may be completely different.

As far as Theresa goes she is very much a Trump supporter. That's no secret. She has been to/part of Trump events. Both her and Joe are very good people. I like them both a lot. I wouldn't consider myself a Trumper but politically I certainly fall in line with many of his policies. Particularly in regards to tax and regulation. I just don't like him personally and some of his social stances.

So if Theresa has the same thoughts on tax/regulation and she's genuinely a good person what's not to like?

Which of Trumps social stances do you not agree with

May not all be social.

It's probably less Trump specifically and the overall Republican impression than reality. The progressives are taking the lgbtq... stuff to the next level but I think that's an overreaction to the lack of gay rights up until the last decade or so. I don't give a shit what people do. For the most part that stuff is already fixed.

Same thing with minorities rights. Again democrats tend to take things too far for the sake of votes but I think the denial of racism is also damaging. Racism very much still exists limiting opportunities to minorities. How to fix it is the difficult question. Denying it's existence is not the answer. Don't ask me how to fix it but there has to be some government involvement imo.

As far as foreign involvement I think Trump had some of the right idea getting Europe and others to not rely so heavily on the U.S. but I think his overall plan was to completely cut us off.

Just to name a few things.

Most don’t switch sides on abortion, gun control , and security vs privacy issues.
Not sure what you mean by security vs privacy. Abortion/gun control seem to be strict party line issues.

On National Security Agency (NSA) surveillance, Trump says he "tends to err on the side of security" over privacy. Trump supports bringing back now-expired provisions of the Patriot Act to allow for the NSA to collect and store bulk telephone metadata.[46][47] Trump said: "I assume that when I pick up my telephone, people are listening to my conversations anyway."[47]

In February 2016, Trump urged his supporters to boycott Apple Inc. unless the company agrees to build a custom backdoor for the FBI to unlock the password-protected iPhone connected to one of the perpetrators of the 2015 San Bernardino shooting, a move that Apple argues would threaten the security and privacy of its users.[48] Trump himself still used his iPhone to send out tweets.[49]

In May 2020, Trump reversed his stance, stating that "warrantless surveillance of Americans is wrong",[50] and threatening to veto reauthorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.[51]

I can actually see how he could have changed his stance on this after his four years, but it was a pretty big change. I do agree both parties for the most part are fine with invading your privacy. I still voted for Trump because his polices especially regarding the economy were the lesser of two evils.

I don't even think the politicians are in on everything to goes on there.

Met him last summer when he spoke in McCook, I’m not a fan cuz I think he is a total poser and not a Nebraskan.

Basically he is just Herbster with a mustache and silly cosplay.
Impressed/not impressed with his ability to think or too fake to even tell? Nothing i hate more than fake.
