Good draft for Nebraska but some obvious mistakes were made.

Jurgens and Taylor Britt made great moves in declaring for the draft. CTB had been a quality player his entire time with Nebraska. Jurgy had the rockiest of starts with injuries, position switches and then the snapping disaster but had a solid year last year. Toure made his move from a small school to a Big 10 team to prove himself and he did. Great move that paid off for him. He also enters a good situation in GB because they really need WRs.

But.....what were some of these other dudes thinking?

Damion Daniels absolutely needed to test well to alleviate any concerns about his drive or fitness.......he did not.
Deontre Thomas could have been a sure starter this year to showcase himself after a completely pedestrian career at NU. Who told him to enter the draft?

Did both of them get bored of university life? They did spend 5 years in Lincoln. Did they not want to take post graduate courses? Were they tired of losing so much that they just said fuck it?

That brings us to Ben Stille. Had he entered the draft a year ago I'm sure he would have been drafted. Instead he came back to anchor our defense and had the most mediocre year. This dude basically played himself into the NFL....stayed in school....only to then play himself out of the draft discussion. I actually think of all the undrafted free agent signings that Stille will probably have the best chance of sticking with it and making a career because we all know what he can do......why he didnt do it on the field last year is a mystery.

JoJo Domann.......WTF? That dude made plays and works hard. Was his end of the year shoulder injury something really that bad to keep him undrafted? Literally every NFL team needs a guy like him who can cover different positions, because of the roster limits, and contribute on every special teams unit. This is a head scratcher.

Austin Allen had about as good of a year as he could of. He made tough catches and held on to the ball. Put up numbers. His testing was OK except for the strength. Why did the NFL sour on him?

Another overlooked mistake....Connor Culp. Had he gone for the NFL after last year when he was the Big 10 kicker of the year I'm sure he would have at least signed as a free agent. Now....I hope the dude got a degree in something he likes. Shouldn't have stayed. (it probably would have helped us too if he had left)

So in the end we have seen both dudes who should have stayed after this year and dudes that should have left after the COVID year. So many mistakes makes me wonder who is giving these guys their advice.

Great breakdown!

So he plays 6-8 years in the League…he’ll be 33 at most. I don’t understand that. I think the injury history with multiple serious injuries is the bigger deal. One serious injury like David Ojabo and you drop 1 round. Multiple, and you’re labeled “injury prone.” Nikobe Dean dropped from top-20 into the 80’s for the same reason.
The average age of retirement for a football player is 27. And there’s a big difference between Ojabo / Dean and JoJo imo.

Honestly, Jojo not being drafted probably worked in his favor. Basically get to pick where you go and not like the 7th round is really anything better.

Indy seems like a great fit for him.
