Golf Irons

Clearly you didn’t play high school golf in Nebraska if boots and wranglers made you feel lesser.

redneck golf for life

fun story, my first ever high school match I got mad and broke my putter with like 1 or 2 holes left @Link- was there with me as was a guy who is now the head coach of SCC golf team
True story! Damn fine wedge putting though. And that head coach was in 8th grade at the time playing in the tournament lol. And I’m pretty sure he lost by 1 or 2 strokes but couldn’t technically medal. Best student manager ever.

His work release junior and senior consisted of leaving school most days at 10:30 to go ‘work at Kirkman’s’ for the rest of the day. I’d have to ask specifically but it was damn near every day his senior year.

only time I beat him was that round

my best round in high school I shot a 72 at Beatrice, Calvin shot like a 64

PS: I saw it coming, I mean the dude drove the green on 2 par 4s that day and every up down par save I had he was doing the same but with birdies.

Good times lol.

I've got an appointment on June 6th at Club Champion in Omaha for a full bag fitting. I'll be interested in seeing what is recommended for me. I've been playing with a set of Calloway's that I bought back in 2003, so anything will be an upgrade.

I rented a set of M6's last weekend when I was traveling and couldn't bring my clubs. those irons are very hot.

You like them?
Im gaming some older Mizuno blades right now and waiting for my new MP-20 MMCs to be delivered. I just got fitted for those.
I went into my fitting with a total open mind to all brands, but still ended up with mizunos, so idk what that tells you.
The JPX line has some good options if you’re looking for a little more of game improvement iron in a player’s iron silhouette.

Don’t mean to be redundant as I’ve said this before, but this is my third year playing and I’m outgrowing the starter set that I’ve got now. I’ve been told to do exactly what you did, which is go in with an open mind to your fitting and swing a lot of different clubs. Also, I’ve been told to just bite the bullet and spend the money on a really good set because they’ll last you forever and it’s worth it. I’m playing 3 times a week. So I can justify the purchase.

Did my first half of my full bag fitting at Club Champion on Saturday. Did Driver and Putter. I ended up going with a Ping G425 LST Driver with a IZ 6 Stiff Shaft. He dialed it down to 7.5 degrees for loft. By the time we dialed it in, I had hit close to 95 shots, so I was pretty dang tired, but we had essentially taken me from a drastic slice to a very slight draw. Was averaging 265 to 270 in the air, so I was really happy about that.

Also ended up in a Taylor Made Spider EX Platinum Short Slant putter. That thing rolled everything so smooth.

Go back on the 25th to finish out my woods and irons. Very happy with the experience.

I just bought my first full set (years ago I put together a set from individual clubs taken from the lost & found at the course I was working at) and I think I might've made a mistake with my driver loft. I got the Cleveland Launcher HB with 10.5 degrees, but I've been hitting absolute moonshots on the driving range. I'm starting the think it might be fairly natural for me to hit my drive on the upswing and maybe I need a flatter face. The problem was everything I read said that beginners should likely be either 10.5 or 12.

guys. i went from hitting everything pretty much pure for over a year, every single shot, to a shitty fade slice.
I'm in the same boat. Hit a solid draw for years and my shot pattern is slowly moving right into this stupid fade.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

So I dropped some cash on this launch monitor this week.

Pretty sweet to get detailed information about my whole range session. So far I would highly recommend it. I found out about it through this review

There's a link in that review to get it for $449 if you buy it through his site.
