Golf Irons

So I finally went to a big retailer and just hit some irons. T100, T200, iblades, g210, and the taylormade 790s.

Have to say. I was pretty impartial to the iblades and 790s. I’ve got some hogan ptx pro and icon irons coming Monday to test out.
Unless the hogan irons wow me. I think I’m going to go with the iblades. Fuck they felt good. Now I just need to get a set up to lower my damn flight. I’m averaging upwards of 170 feet, swing speed around 103-105. 7 iron distance about 185-190
Any advice on shaft @lee_carvallo_12 kind of on that edge of stiff to xstiff.
Just did some shaft research because I just orders the new Apex Pro 21’s. I wanted something to drive my ball flight down, too.
If you’re flying your 7i 185-190, you’re definitely in x-shafts (that’s @#HBD territory fwiw).
I’d look at KBS c-taper x shafts. It’s a low spin/low trajectory shaft that weighs 130grams.

The main thing is I want to get my damn shot trajectory down. Hit freaking moon shots, which I generally don't mind, but in the wind just sucks. The guy had me hit some x-stiff shafts and the simulator had me have some pretty nasty cuts, which I basically never do with my irons. Went out to the range quick afterwards and hit my irons and didn't have any cut to them, was questioning if that was really accurate or not on their simulator. My irons are stiff shafts. My buddy plays the KBS c-taper x shafts and said he loves them.

Pumped to get a set of used clubs from play it again sports and golf again. Three courses in the valley outside Anchorage. This course is right outside the school I'm going to teach at:

Amigo— as Lee said, going with a low spin/low trajectory makes sense given your ball flight. But, if your driver swing speed is 103-105, you’re probably good with a stiff shaft. Unless that’s your 7 iron swing speed? Obviously there are levels of stiffness that are all over the map depending on the shaft. Here’s a good tool from Callaway that might help...

103-105 was my 7 iron. Didn’t hit any drivers

I bet you research your shaft a lot.

Hit some Hogan PtxPros and their icon blades today. They’ve got a deal where you can try before you buy. $20 and they’ll ship you whatever clubs you want to demo for 2 weeks. They both were very nice.

I'm late to this party but I'll still dance.

I indeed play the 718 AP3's and love them. Agree with the other wise PBer's on the importance of getting fitted for good shafts. I got Oban CT-115 X shafts. Love them, spendy for a whole set of irons but absolutely love how they feel.

I was right on the edge of a stiff vs X stiff on the driver, swing speed averages probably 98-103 with driver. So when I first got my shaft, I went with a 63g X stiff Fujikura because I thought it made my dick a few inches longer. But, just got my driver reshafted and went with a (marginally) lighter 60g S flex shaft and I would venture to say I've picked up 10 yards off the tee with a much tighter dispersion. Feels much better and I don't focus on swinging so hard off the tee box.
