Golf Irons

1) I am a hack.
2) Pre-arccos I knew how far I hit each club when I perfectly flushed it in the center of the club face. What the data has shown me is that I don’t flush it in the center of the club face every time, so it gives me the distance I should expect to hit it based on my real, on course shot data from thousands of shots on the golf course.

That help?
I just bought some Arccos sensors to go along with my new irons, partially on LC12’s recommendation. Excited to see how it works out.

Keep us posted.

I've played for 50 years W/O all this tech, even a rangefinder.
I find this new stuff fascinating.

As I look to retire and play more golf, I am @ Curious on all of this stuff.

Rangefinder was the best thing to ever happen to me. Having the actual number for distance freed me up so much to actually focus on executing the shot.

What irons would you average golfers recommend for a far, far below average beginner golfer looking to get into the sport?

Depends on how much you want to spend. But any of the major brands' game improvement irons would be great. Big head, forgiving, cavity-back. I'm impartial to Cleveland irons because I've played them for 20 years. Had some TA5s and CG16s. CG16s are forgiving as shit and you'll hit them a mile.

I'm willing to spend money in order to feel better about myself. Any experience with the Cleveland Launchers or are those too weird? Also looking at TaylorMade Sim2 Max OS irons.

They're pretty weird and I don't think they're as effective as they would have you think. If they were you'd see a lot more of them and I think I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen them out in the wild.

lefty clubs are a little tough to come by, but my burners i got a few years ago were just “ok”. i started playing golf 6 years ago & switched to lefty probably 4 or 5? anyways monday i went to dicks and hit a set of callaway x series rogue irons. i was wearing my cowboy boots and wranglers all that and probably look like a goober, but first swing the kid running the bay says, oh wow thats actually a good looking swing i didnt expect that. 😂. anyways first hit i knew i was taking them home. i absolutely love them

Im a lefty as well. This is my 3rd full season playing. I’m very much out-growing the Callaway Strata set that I bought for $250 a couple years ago. I’m gonna rough it this year with what I have and then probably in January or February pony up for some good clubs.

They feel super nice. I’m partial to the T-200s, but I’ve been playing Callaway X-16 pros since 2005/6ish. Be sure to get them fitted if possible. Have you been able to hit them?

bro lol I still have my old set from high school we should break them out like old guys playing a 1/2 court pickup game at a high school reunion

Clearly you didn’t play high school golf in Nebraska if boots and wranglers made you feel lesser.

redneck golf for life

fun story, my first ever high school match I got mad and broke my putter with like 1 or 2 holes left @Link- was there with me as was a guy who is now the head coach of SCC golf team

First high school meet I ever played in was some rink a dink sand greens course as a freshman. Getting ready to tee off, a kid opens his bag to pull out a few balls and out falls out 3 busch lattes. He kind of giggled and said whoops, you guys want one, they're warm, but still good...
