Glory years baseball thread.

This thread makes me miss my kid summers.

Take off from home at 730am on my mongoose with my golf bag with my clubs, baseball mitts, catchers gear. Get to Mahoney ball fields by 8, game/practice done around 10, then head to Mahoney golf course to play 18. Then go to North 40 to hit a bucket, play 9 at north 40 then get home by 5.

Every day.

Had a productive youth experience. Played for the Gladiators, Pacestters, and Cardinals back in the 90’s. Helped take my HS to state for only the second time in school history and recorded the first win at state with a complete game win over Alex Gordon and LSE. Went to junior college, then a D2 for a year and got drafted. Played for 5 years in the minors and was on the right track before an injury pretty much derailed everything. Now I’m here posting it. About sums it up.

But did you get hit in the nads?

Tracked down a foul fly ball at 9 and ran into a metal post and thought my legs were broken. They were not. Took a line drive to the hand at 11 and couldn’t grip a ball for a couple weeks. The herniated disc L5-S1 was downright painful and struggled walking and standing up for awhile and was the beginning and end to my career.

But no, no shots to the nuts as a player but a kid squared me up in t-ball as we went to an under hand toss at the end of the season to transition to coach pitch and that one hurt for a few minutes.

My son played for the Cardinals, and Tony Pane was an elementary gym teacher of mine at Cody Elementary (big brother Ike was the Principal). Went to Millard with the Peitzmeier clan who coached Pacesetters IIRC. Small world.

Also, you forgot to mention that you got a tall, athletic wife out of the deal. So your playing days aren’t exactly over … (in my best Norm MacDonald voice) if you know what I mean.

You were just a few years ahead of me. Played for the Predators in the early 2000s. We were a new team when PBA got too big. We got the Gladiators and Cardinals a few times. Pacesetters we’re always just a tad better late in games. Same with the Lincoln Rebels. Dominators were cocky shits

Very good chance I played against your son many times. My dad is buddies with Peitzmeier dad

I was a Dominator, but that was in the late 90s.

we hated your organization from Papillion lol but the heat of our “rivalry” with you guys was 05-07. You guys won a shit load of games though

Best moment was during legion. Our home field was kinda wonky, up against some backyards so right field is a short 240ish. As a lefty pull hitter worked out pretty nice. One game I went 3-3 with 3 bombs and hit a 4th one just a little foul and then they intentionally walked me. Felt awesome.
