Glory years baseball thread.

once was catching, I called for a fastball, stupid sumbitch threw a curve! landed a few feet in front of the plate, I dove to block it…BAM! nailed me right in the nards. luckily, i was wearin my nut cup so just felt a little vibration for 5 seconds.

Thank you Jesus. Never hit in the head with a baseball. Hit an in the park home run in little league in Litchfield, NE. The end.

The last year I played baseball was pony league and our team won ONE game all year. After that everyone was like fuck that shit and we never played again

Embarrassing at the time. Funny now. I've never hit an outside the park home run in my life. I think 2 inside the park home runs when I was young in select and was fast. When I was 13, we were playing basically a rec league select baseball team. Not good. Pitcher was throwing maybe 50 mph. Kid before me in the lineup went yard. We were both really skinny growing up, very average height. My turn, absolutely hammer a fastball to left field. Got all of it. I immediately think it's gonzo so I start jogging, didn't even look at the ball. I got 3/4 of the way to 1st base, turned my head and looked up and see the ball hit just the very top of the fence and bounce back in in front of the left fielder as he was staring at the wall. I panic, round 1st and sprint towards second, he throws the ball in to second base and I get tagged out in the slide. Emotional roller coaster I get super pissed off and started crying on the way back to the dug out. Was good after about 5 minutes in the dugout but boy the damage was done.

In pony league we were the last seed and won it all. We also lost our second game and had to come through the losers bracket to win it. We beat the other team twice we were consolidated with in school to win the championship. It wasn’t that we were bad, but we forfeited a lot of games that year due to football and basketball camps. They mattered more for some reason.

I kind of wish I had grown up in a bigger city so that I could have played select baseball. No one in my small town gave a shit about baseball

Basketball was the main focal point in the summer with us. Our coach was a hardass and it was basically a year around thing. He also never had bad teams the way he did it. Hell in jr high all we did was run up and backs to get ready for freshman ball. We might have did a full scrimmage twice a year. It was more about weeding out the weak.

I miss the buck. Haymarket park is cool and probably needed. But the Buck when the team was good >>>>>>> Haymarket park

Ohhh our glory years.

I got hit in the ass about 5 times in tournament games one day.

My only true over the fence home run was a walk off dinger. It was only a walk off because we 10 runned them but it still counts damn it! Also to add to the story, my buddy hit a grand slam right before me so we went back-to-back. It was our only true home runs ever. Good times!

Hit a double off the wall in HS off a pitcher that went on to pitch at ND.

I had an unimpressive LL career, but once had an opposing pitcher throw a ball in the dirt against me that bounced up over the plate, & the ump called it a strike. Still messes with my head to this day.

Little League All-Star pitcher, and still have the hat (with patch) to prove it. Seriously. Pretty pedestrian at the plate, even back then. I rarely missed what I swang at, but never really developed the knack for hitting for power or going to the opposite field. Deep short or shallow left field for about 99.6% of my hits.

I had a friend was a big baseball player, back in high school. He could throw that speedball by you, make you look like a fool boy. Saw him the other night at this roadside bar, I was walking in, he was walking out. We went back inside sat down had a few drinks.

Good times.
