Genatone to Montana

Montana will be a nice farm program for us with the transfer portal.

Maybe we can send them a few players to make up for fcs All Americans we take?
we send them our walk-ons every year, they send us their all Americans

Would be nice if we could work out that system with some of the FCS programs in the region

I imagine this will probably be the way a lot of teams will handle the borderline recruits now. Go to a lower-level school prove yourself and we will see you in the portal in a year or two. Teams will now more than ever have to utilize every scholarship they have so unfortunately, they will be able to take less and less project kids. The days of the Chris Walkers hanging around for four or five years with no production on the field should be over.

I know this isn't what you're doing. But I've been genuinely baffled for the past year on RSS at the number of posters begging for this guy to get an offer. Not just the posters but Mongo's articles and Dean discussing whether or not he's going to get an offer. 3-9, posters going back and forth giving reasons why, yet the masses are begging for an under-sized LB from North Platte to get an offer. Truly baffles me. Reminds me of a couple years ago with Caden McCormack.

100%.

I definitely can see us taking a few fewer HS kids and just working a relationship with Montana like this. Or with IWCC.

Plus we seem to be pretty good at the scramble recruiting which is basically the portal.

It will be interesting to see how the Portal will affect High School recruiting now. Will the teams like Nebraska that are struggling continue to take less High School recruits and concentrate more on the Portal transfers? Will the more successful teams continue to take more High School recruits and less Portal Transfers because they have more talented players, or will they have to take more Portal Transfers too because their talented players are going to the Portal for more possible playing time? It will be good for the lower-level teams to get more talented players out of High School in the short term but ultimately those players will be picked up by the higher-level teams when/if those players become more successful.

Wasn't that McCormack kid in line for an offer until he got into trouble? I remember people were jumping out of their jimmies when we got him as a walk on

He assaulted a cop at a high school party and ran
