Frost Metrics

Why does Turd want me to hate him?

I guess the silver lining is that he fired Frost instead of giving him a chance to get to 6 but goddam… that’s just pathetic.

Yea 6 wins and some blowouts was getting him fired.

We saw that getting rid of him and paying him the full buyout really was of no consequence. So even at 6 wins, I still think he’s fired and rightfully so.

Turd Alberts played this almost perfectly from day 1.

I mean, why keep Frost for year 5 in the first place at this point?

Obviously hindsight but if Turd's hotlist is as underwhelming as it's rumored to be why not get that coach last year? If it's a Campbell, BOB, or even Whittingham or Gundy (not underwhelming hires btw)... what is the excuse for giving Frost the fifth year outside of pacifying a delusional sect of the fanbase?

Turd Alberts played it well with the situation presented to him. It’s pretty obvious he would have fired Frost last year if he could have.

I don’t think anyone has a clue who is actually in the candidate pool and if someone says anything other than “I really don’t know” they’re not being very truthful. I believe the people and sources here have heard there are a number of people that have been contacted, and I believe those things to be well-sourced. But I still don’t think anyone truly knows who Turd really wants and who he’s going to get.

A few reasons in no order of importance here to keep him for year #5 and please excuse the bullet points:

1) I don’t think Turd was at all prepared for a national coaching search four months into his job. There’s a lot of elements to a coaching search that none of us are aware of that have to happen before and after to make this decision and I just don’t think Turd was in a position to move.

2) I don’t think the money or appetite was there within the booster base to move, yet.

3) The national media had been making the case the whole time that “Nebraska was close.” Had Turd moved I could see there being some really shitty unwanted and unnecessary press.

4) I think Turd banked on the idea that Frost was going to give him a few opportunities to fire him within the year. Personally, it never felt more “right” to fire Frost when it happened and I was not shocked in the slightest when the move was made.

So the thinking is that his hands were tied then by the powers that be but these same people aren't going to influence the next coaching hire?

I'm asking bc keeping the politics straight at Nebraska is mind-numbing.

Yep. While he could have fired him last year, I think there were several reasons he didn’t. After GaSouthern basically all of those reasons went away.

I don’t think his hands were tied by the powers that be. I think Turd came to the decision to retain/fire by himself.

I would argue, however; that if Turd would have attempted to pass the hat for donations to buy Frost out last year that the appetite wouldn’t have been there from the big money people.

Those are logical explanations even if I disagree with the thought-process on a couple.

That's interesting. Do you think that the big money people have learned their lesson? Wishful thinking, I know.

How much political capital do you want to burn in your first 6 months on the job? Seems like the most relevant question for Turd

I have said this all along.

Turd was basically given a lottery ticket with Frost. High probability of failure, but if it works it was the best situation. If it works, you have your coach for the next 20 years, the money in the state is happy and Turd looks great for fixing football.

Now lets look at what happened by it not working....
  1. Turd got another year to basically research for candidates and evaluate the job for what he wants.
    1. I don't think showing up trying to fix football/basketball, then having to scramble to fire Frost and eventually hire somebody would have been a good outcome. We likely end up with Matt Campbell whose last 9 losses have been by 1 score.
  2. He now has a bigger war chest to go find a coach by the new media rights deal and the new B1G TV contract deal.
  3. He now has a more attractive job because he has shown he will do whatever to help his football coach.
    1. I think this matters more than most think if you are trying to hire an established coach. Which we all want.
  4. The new facility is opening up this spring making it more attractive.
  5. It also gave Turd a year to get NIL figured out.
    1. Think about the cluster fuck that was when he got here. If the rumors are true about them not paying players (I suspect they are) that would have been a big black eye on it for us.
The only drawback I can see is the new coach missed out on a year of recruiting and roster building. Which I think is an easy fix, you just retain Mickey/Busch and maybe Applewhite. Then you hit the portal hard. The other drawback was a drop in fan enthusiasm, but that was negated by Mickey.

I also think that a good chunk of the fan base was in Frost's corner and he risked splitting it if he fired him last year. I was fine with it because he was 3-9, but understood why he made the decision he did. This would have turned the heat up on him as well.

That's a good breakdown and makes sense to me. That is until Campbell is announced.

JK... I hope

There’s always going to be noise no matter what place you are in. I do think that it’s overblown here.

I’m not sure what lesson would have been learned.

To be clear, I am of the opinion that if Turd would have come to boosters and asked for buyout money last year they’d have said “That’s not a good idea. We are close. Let’s give it more time.” or something to that effect. I have a very hard time believing that a lot of boosters called Turd unsolicited and said “I know you may be thinking about firing Frost, but if you do that I’m pulling my money.” Maybe one or two took this route? I would highly doubt a majority would have.

The rumor is the Peeds fell into the latter category. I am told that the Peeds didn’t foot the buyout bill.

After Georgia Southern though, I don’t think Turd needed to look that deep into his Rolodex to find some people willing to foot a buyout bill.

If Campbell is the next coach I will probably become an Ole Miss fan. I am firmly against that fucker.

  1. 1-7 vs Cockeye
  2. 5-17 in games when the spread is 3.5 or less.
  3. Last 9 losses have been by 1 score
  4. When asked about his goals when he had the preseason best ISU team ever he said his goal was to be the most "together" team ever in ISU history.
    1. Think about if a coach at Nebraska would have said that? What do you think the reaction would be?
  5. Basically a 500 coach
  6. Younger, Midwest version of Riley is what he is.

The best case for him is he made a turd smell better at ISU.

Maybe Turd is using the income from beer sales to pay for Frost's buyout. I'm sure most fans need to be drunk in order to watch this team play and overlook how shitty they are.

I guess the lesson learned would be that maybe Turd should be deferred to instead of people outside the program.

If it's my money, though, I'd expect to have a say. That said, if I was saying "we're close" after 4 years of this shit I'd probably be pretty humbled at this point.
