He was also hurt busy the shift in play style in the nba. When he came in it took him about 7 years to get up to 300 pounds which was to try to be like Shaq.
When the style of play shifted it essentially removed the need for a big like him.
Shaq would still be dominant.
 
I think 1995 Shaq vs 2004 Dwight would be similar athletically. Shaq just had a next level of drive at that time. I was young though. So I could be misremembering.
Shaq is WAY bigger and taller. Dwight is a large man. Shaq is a lot larger. I suppose if you measure vertical, Dwight would have a bit higher vert, but Shaq with his size advantage makes up for that.

In terms of dominance, Shaq by far more dominant than Dwight.
