also as someone going through this the whole wedding business is the biggest shakedown out there. prepare to be butt fucked every step of the process, but you just have to grin and bear it because your BFF will be in the most emotional mood of her life during this time. have fun!

You can't put a price on making sure everyone knows you're pair bonded for life unless that price exceeds $15-20k

Looking to put a ring on the future Mrs. Dell. I’ve had friends put a $10,000 down to a $3000 ring on their ladies.
What say you TPB - what’s an acceptable amount to spend?
Buy raw/scrap gold, buy a nice diamond + find scrap diamonds/other stones, take it to a jeweler and maker a unique ring.

So what I’ve gathered is:
1. Custom rings are expensive
2. The lady will be happy with what I get her
3. Prepared to be fucked on wedding costs
4. Diamonds - even ones that came from the dirt - are neither rare nor valuable, but are sold at mind-boggling markups by the DeBeers cartel that controls the world's mines and has spent a century training men to spend more and more on them.

This should be required reading before buying a ring:

I learned diamonds were a phoney baloney racket when we tried to sell some we inherited
One Jeweler straight up told us, “you won’t get anything for them bc the market isn’t for the public make $ selling stones. The gold settings have real value, the stones don’t. Good Luck”.

For #3....as soon as you say WEDDING the prices immediately go up.
At lease that's what I thought whilst planning both of mine.
Places, flowers, food, booze, all of it...because it's HER big day.

Good luck!

I’d go with lab grown if you’re fiancé will be okay with it. I’d also do a lot of research in terms of the 4Cs. Cut and carat are the priorities...color and clarity just need to be passable.
