If our AD fired his HC three weeks early at a $7.5 million price tag so that he could hire a guy nobody else wants as their HC and who he already has under contract, and then was placing a bet that his football team — without a functioning offensive line and that had already lost to maybe the worst team in FBS and hasn’t beaten a ranked team since God knows when — would upset a top 20 team and allow him to win the public relations war when he announced the hiring of a guy with no head coaching or coordinating experience, we have bigger problems than someone in the AD responding to rumors on twitter.Probably bc they hoped they could get to 6 & it would be spun easier bc of his lack of experience
They were confident the Illinois win was going to happen. It would have if Casey didn’t go down. Why would the Athletic Dept approve an SI reporter to go behind the scenes for a week, write a piece to spotlight Mick, then delay the piece until Monday when it was supposed to drop Friday? This plus the internal Nebraska social media blitz on Mick & also the BTN Journey doing a piece on Mick last week
Ewald himself is Tweeting positive stuff about Mick & shooting down rumors of others.
The “ASU wants to talk to Mick” may have been leaked by our own athletic dept (The north stadium mouthpiece himself was the 1st to circulate that). This is to elicit an emotional response by our own fanbase so “not to lose” Mick to ASU
I think it’s him. Gonna be tough to justify when we look terrible to close out the year bc we can’t score
If it’s Mick fine & I agree just announce it already.
The only other scenario I see is an old guy out of the game like Mendenhall or Patterson having a deal secured & Mick being their #2.
