FYI, The Doomsday Clock is a symbol that represents the likelihood of a man-made global catastrophe, in the opinion of the members of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. Maintained since 1947, the clock is a metaphor for threats to humanity from unchecked scientific and technological advances

If Russia invades NATO territory > US Conventional war with russia > we crush russia because they’ve shown they don’t know how to do it anymore > russia uses nukes > n. Korea hedges it’s bets and launches too > US nuclear response > mad max

Quite honestly, that's not the craziest of scenarios either. We truly aren't far away.

IMO our biggest threat is Putin being backed into a corner. There's no scenario where he steps down peacefully, and he's already been on record saying something along the lines of, "If Russia doesn't exist, what is the point of the world continuing to exist?" If he thinks the jig is up, I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and burn it all down.

This the way Russia has always fought wars. They take big losses casualty wise and keep throwing bodies at the situation. They win some and lose some.
