that's only true if Houston consents.
Was thinking the same. Just because it happened in the past with another coach doesn't mean Houston is on board.
For the 100th time there are numerous ways around this. Its either not okam or Rhule is being a fool (again) and letting the DL position sit publicly open during the 2 most important offseason weeks in the program. Go ahead pile on in support of the official narrative, but DL hire has been handled very poorly, at best.
Yeah, your numerous ways around it are to breach the contract which yes is technically an option but you keep repeating it without any apparent understanding of the practical realities of doing so which several posters have pointed out. People don’t routinely breach contracts in the real world without it causing reputational harm even if damages is a remedy for doing so.
Repeating a dumb point 100 times doesn’t make it less dumb.
A rumor floated to Thamel of a possible DL hire would breach a contract in what way?
Thamel’s not going to report that somebody plans hire somebody else in a month. He reports x “has hired” y.
Things can always change. He doesn’t want to have our stuff out there that doesn’t come true.

Again it all depends on the terms of contract
I have seen some that specifically state (in layman terms) that they are not to engage in contractual talks while still performing their current duties. Doesn’t mean the agent can’t talk but nothing can be officially stated under these terms.
In all reality unless we have his contract and examine every little detail, we do not know the whats how’s or ifs when it comes to breaching/breaking

I personally would expect an assistant DL coach to have a one-sided 'standard' (from the team's POV) contract.
I would also expect Rhule to honor it (whatever it says) as the NFL team relationships can be valuable.
Winner winner chicken dinner.
NFL assistants movement, even the assistant to the assistant like Okam, were all over social media last week saying they're leaving for a college job.
It's tough to do, but I'm giving Rhule the benefit of the doubt. We have someone, and Rhule has chosen to keep it under wraps for whatever reason(s). Ultimately it's on him.
Today is day 4 of the portal though.
Handled poor at best is a separate issue and I wouldn't disagree.
It's just that we don't always understand all nuances. I see this at work often. People think they know, but occasionally they don't know what's driving something.
But yes, WTH don't we have a D-line coach?

This is pretty much where I am at too. Am I concerned? Yup, absolutely. But I am choosing the believe that Rhule has a reason for this and that the answer isn't incompetency. Rhule is not incompetent.
We’re grasping at straws bc no one knows what’s going on with the DL hire or process.

From what I heard, sounds like Manning will be coaching D-Ends, so the Dline coach will in fact only be coaching the middle of the d-line/d tackles. Might be a turnoff for some. I also know the coaches convention is Sun thru Tues and interviews and conversations will be happening next week. I 100% know 2 names who are going to be talking to Aurich. One would be great, other, im not so sure on. But I assume the net will get much bigger after the convention
