Maybe sometimes the secondary choices are better. Mullen, Frost, and the Chipster were 3 of the top coaches after 2017 and all of them flopped to some degree. Jimbo has proved to be decent.

Mullen will land somewhere as a HC. Too good of a coach. Or take a year off then he’d have his pick of jobs next year.

He’s 34-15. Basically 70%…in the SEC. I’d give my left nut for a coach that good.

No clue. But he’s a good qb coach. Not a great recruiter. But that’s why you hire WR/RB/OL coaches that can recruit their ass off

He had lower standards at Miss State. He finished 4th or worse every year but one in the west. He would have survived a down season like this at Miss State.

Yep. Offer him $1.5mil/year to come be OC/QB. Hire stud recruiters at the other spots to bring in talent. Mullen has enough name cachet to help bring in a stud transfer QB.
I realize it’s a Hail Mary but I hope Frost and Turd at least shoot their shot and see what happens.

Even if we hired just an average coach, he'd still be better than what we've got currently. Don't need to hit a HR, just get on base.

Failure in the sense that I don't think they've been any better. Haven't been worse though.

It’s hard for me to call him a failure with a 34-13. I don’t know if he is worth the kind of money they are paying him, but they could have done much worse.

What's the angle here? That nebraska is a worse job than Florida therefore it justifies a strategy not taken by any other program in the country to become successful?

It's not that I think other programs don't give coaches time. Every coach gets some time out of the gate, usually 2-3 season and we're passed that with the program showing no signs of progress in the win loss column. As AD Turd Alberts said, empirical evidence isn't on the side of this decision and that's why every other AD in the country would have moved on.
