Y'all are mean as hell to poor ducky

Just realized this kid played against the school my brother coaches at.

4A Division 1 football in Texas. The district they are in is...ok. El Campo is there they have the #1 RB recruit in the nation. I know my brother's school choked and didn't make the playoffs, they have phenomenal athletes.

I'm very ok with this. Keep him on a track scholarship so doesn't take away a football scholarship

This is really a no lose situation for Nebraska. The track team adds a very talented runner, and if he works out for the football team, great! His scholarship doesn’t change from track to football unless he plays in a game, so if he plays we know he is legit and deserves a scholarship.

I believe the rule is the scholarship counts against the higher-revenue sport. So yes, this will be a football scholarship. This keeps teams from giving away bowling scholarships to football players etc.

He has to be considered football if he plays football. Even if he's really a track scholarship.

With no limits on current year for new scholarships it's not the same as years where you're limited to 25. The only place this affects is the current years 85 limit.

So hypothetically he could quit playing football after spring and just run track and this wouldn't have any affect on football at all.

As long as he plays football he will affect the overall 85 limit.

Like 98% sure that's how it works.
There is a hierarchy of sports. The scholarship counts toward the sport that's highest on the list.
(This is why the scholarship of Maggie Mendelson, who is playing both basketball and volleyball at NU, counts toward basketball and is free help for the VB team)

The Hierarchy:
1. Football
2. Basketball
3. Mens Ice Hockey
4. Womens volleyball
5. Mens swimming and water polo
6. Everything else

The scholarship of a multi-sport athlete can count toward a lower sport (there was a guy back in the 2000's who came here on wrestling scholarship but walked on to the football team), but as soon as they step on the playing field/court for a game of the higher level sport (according to the above hierarchy), either A) the scholarship has to count toward the higher sport, or B) they can forfeit any scholarship and be a walk-on in both sports.

So Turner could conceivably come here on T&F scholarship, but as soon as he steps on the field during a game, his scholly will count toward the 85 limit of football.

The other factor is that mens track and field only gets 12.6 scholarships for the whole team, so -- like baseball -- very few, if any, track scholarships are full scholarships. So a T&F scholly might not get him up here from Texas if he has other football options (or better track options, which I bet he does).

All this is moot anyway since it appears he will be a football scholarship from the get go according to what's being reported.

Go to page 233 of the linked manual to see the full hierarchy. Table 15.3. (It's actually 246th page of the PDF)

Thank you for the clarification. Good info here.

Apparently the 30 other D1 football coaches in the state of Texas didn’t either. No offers from any of them. Hmmmm
Dude, if you spent half as much time being productive as you do bitching and moaning you may have much less to bitch about.

Tre Palmer’s speed was unguardable and this player is faster coming out of high school. You can’t coach speed like that, but if they believe they can coach the football side of things it seems worth the risk. We know Rhule likes to “miss fast” if he is going to miss.

Luckily i don’t give a shit about what people say online. They’re the dumb fucks trying to polish this turd. Rhule is doing the same shit as Frost.

Hire friends who are “hungry” but not proven - check
Recruit “dudes” with speed - check
We will OUT develop the most competitive league in D1 - check
Our hungry coaches won’t be outschemed week in and week out - check

Replace Golden Tea and chew with Ping Pong and gum and there ya have it.

Your tag can be “Professional Turd Polisher”

Can’t wait to see how you spin the Donny Raiola hire
Show me one turd I've polished. Here's what you don't understand:

No one is polishing a turd because we have 0 RESULTS TO TRY TO EXPLAIN AWAY YET. Let a proven program builder work. If results don't come, pick apart all you want.

Jesus - it's like you're incapable of comprehension. @RedSeaRising lays out WHY you got banned - you were INCESSANTLY BITCHING and shitposting on literally every thread. Somehow you take that, twist it through your duck-sized brain and say "WAAAAHHHH people won't let me have an opinion...this isn't fair. You're all soft because I disagree with you..." No...you're just more annoying than a resounding gong.

Thanks for proving your tuber-like qualites, Spud Supreme.
