Row the damn boat?

Higher ceiling than Bo? Bo topped out at 10 wins. He was a high floor low ceiling coach for us.
I think these coaches all have the ability and track record to suggest they could lead us to being a highly rated team again.
-Gundy
-Rhule
-O'Brien
-Campbell
-Peterson
-Lane Kiffin
-Luke Fickel
-Dave Aranda

I don't buy into the hype of hiring Kleiman or Leipold as I feel they would be more of the high floor low ceiling coach. We have Fuck You money now with facilities, fan support and tradition so the only thing we are missing is the coach to take us back to being a Top 15 program.
Gundy- Home Run
Rhule- Home Run
O'Brien- Double
Campbell- Off the Wall double
Paterson- Signing a former MVP five years past his prime
Land Kiffin-Home Run and fun, i.e Jose Bautista in his prime
Luke #2ndChoice- Grand Slam
Dave Aarnda- Home Run

I don't want Paterson as I think he is on the downward slide. I want Chris Peterson from BSU & Washington. I've just always been impressed with the creativity of his offenses. He was pulling all kinds of upsets against teams like Oklahoma with his overmatched team. He really wanted to coach the Huskers but TO didn't want him and instead went with Pelini.

Pretty sure it was here that I read he isn’t interested in the grind anymore. And we need Grind Peterson. He’d be a great option if he was dug back in.

I want someone that VALUES DEFENSE. Doesn’t have to be their focus - but someone that legitimately values the toughness that comes with a defensively sound team.

#2ndChoice - likely not leaving Cincinnati ever
Aranda - my number 1 right now
O’Brien - growing on me more and more
Stoops - I haven’t been as high on, but maybe I should be?

My five have consistently been Urban, Rhule, Aranda, O'Brien and Freeze. I would be happy to add #2ndChoice and Gundy to that list too. After those guys, I have a considerable drop off, but would have Campbell, Liepold, Stoops and Klieman.

Are people not as high on Stoops because of the likelihood he would come? I guess I don’t understand any other reason he would be low on lists. What he has done at Kentucky is pretty remarkable even though they likely aren’t going to be playing for SEC Championships. They are always gritty, and make everyone earn it against them. They just play really sound, hard-nosed football, and that is exactly what NU needs to get back to.
That is why I can get behind some of the less-flashy names- Leipold Campbell, Whittingham… and would obviously be in favor of #2ndChoice and Gundy.

I think the contract he's got makes it a tough pull and there have been a few games I've watched that are reminiscent of the garbage Nebraska has fielded for the last decade.

That said, you're right. What he's done at Kentucky is impressive. I think he's a good coach, just not entirely sure if he can take that next step. He feels like he's got a Pelini ceiling.

That likely is his ceiling in the SEC, and probably would/could be in the B1G East. But NU essentially squandered nearly a decade of opportunity in the B1G West, and I think he has built a program that would do well there (although that will likely look different very soon)

Yep and no one knows who the next Saban is. I just know being competitive in the B1G West will soon become irrelevant bc it's going to look completely different.

Here's an example of the shit that drove me crazy at times watching Kentucky

Gundy- Home Run
Rhule- Home Run
O'Brien- Double
Campbell- Bunt for single
Patterson- Signing a former MVP five years past his prime
Land Kiffin-Home Run and fun, i.e Jose Bautista in his prime
Luke #2ndChoice- Home Run and miss home plate
Dave Aarnda- Home Run
I'm not big on Campbell or #2ndChoice.

Have a bad feeling #2ndChoice is going to end up like Frost. Sitting in a recruiting rich area with the ability to take chances on kids B1G schools can't. Great for G5 but isn't the answer in the B1G.

Please share why……

.
I did some research on him last season when he expressed interest as rumors were Frost was going to be fired. Seems like a humble hard working guy who doesn't make excuses and builds a strong culture. He is not afraid of a challenge. Here are a couple articles I read that painted a good picture of him

Panthers Article

ESPN Temple Draft Article

SI baylor Article

SB Nation

I was trying to find an article I read about how he went about recruiting at Temple. It was impressive and worked. As he said he was competing against Penn St & Pitt for in-state talent so he had an uphill fight. It was impressive the recruiting plan he laid out. I think he had 4 of his Temple recruits drafted one season. He has an eye for talent and is not afraid of taking on a big challenge. From what we heard he prefers the college game over dealing with the NFL players.
