Child tested positive for Covid

None of it is fun with a newborn. Have they come up with a better way of getting the snot out of their nose than the little suction ball?
Two of my kids have never been effected by much. The one was born with his esophagus not attached. Anytime he has a respiratory issue I get a little worried. I’ve taken him to the ER a few times when he has had rsv, influenza, and croup in his first 4 years of life. It’s always at night when it gets the most brutal. I was just happy covid didn’t do shit to him. I wasn’t worried about the other two.

Friend of mine 10 month old grandson just went in yesterday for monoclonal treatments as a preventative so that's good to hear. They said that 1 year and up kids are nearly bulletproof so I imagine the closer they are to 1 the better.

At 2 weeks a cold is brutal to deal with so can understand opees worry.

Based on the per capita number of cases and number of hospitalizations I'm fairly confident in saying my wife has treated roughly as many Covid patients as any Doc in Nebraska. (if not more than every Doc in Nebraska)

NWKS got absolutely smashed with the first (much stronger and more deadly/dangerous) strain. But, she never had a hospitalization under the age of 40 and only had a handful of hospitalizations for non-obese under the age of 65
(a few of them were in super good shape tho, so I'm not diminishing the seriousness of Covid.... but a handful of cases vs. the 500+ she has had are the exception that proves the rule.)

Regardless, having a child sick with anything sucks because there is nothing (NOTHING) worse than your kid being hurt and as a father you can't do anything about it. I'm used to fixing everything and being in control... I absolutely hate it when I'm not. I'd rather be injured/hurt than my son or wife be.

PS: wifey just sent me a pic from work, has 3 Covid patients this afternoon and she is already in the PPE. God damnit China

That is the worst part about being a parent. The helpless feeling of not being able to fix something. And I haven't had anything close to what some parents have had to deal with. I can't even imagine having a child with cancer or anything that is truly life threatening.

Yeah. I mean I know mathematically if my 2 year old gets Covid he will be totally fine, but fuck that

1 of my business partners and former best friend in law school was in St Judes in Memphis almost all of 2021 because his 1 year old daughter had a pediatric brain tumor

seeing what the family/little girl went through changed my heart on so many things, it wasn't even my kid and it still effects me

*Cancer gone now after 2 surgeries and 5 months of chemo therapy, she was so young that her body has enough stem cells to make up and catch her up for the months of stunted growth. I cried like a baby when we called to tell me. I was a total mess last August

I wasn’t gonna delete it but my wife told me to quote “delete that pic of my nipples poking through the shirt”

She is lucky she doesn’t know about my PMs with @thE kErnEl and others

Yea good point, who wants their kids to spend time with the rest of their families during the holidays. I mean, it's not like anybody would keep their kids away from large family gatherings when a kid has influenza, right? I certainly would take my kid to my family Christmas knowing he had influenza! I mean, what could go wrong?
No completely agree with you. It was a total dick move and wrong to do. But to get the law involved???

More of a general announcement. I know I've said things on RSS that I deleted after realizing it probably went too far. Would have been nice to know that it wasn't really deleted for everybody.
