This the same source that told you Casey Thompson broke his hand two years ago? JWHere's what was told to me a few days ago by a cousin of mine who has donated big money to NIL:
Nash, T-Rob, and Jimari Butler have all cashed in with the top defensive NIL on the team. Non-Starters like Chief Borders are pissed off because he thinks he should be pulling in the same type of money despite being a marginal back up. Chief allegedly improved his game this Spring but has been demanding more money solely based on improved effort in Spring Practice. Rhule and staff tried to advise him to be patient, but his family is demanding more money.
He was earning 6 figures, but nowhere close to the dollar amounts of the impact players and the defensive starters. So he's leaving.
Nebraska will be fine. Chief Borders won't command anything more than what he's earning now.
So Matt Ishbia and David Tepper both made like a gazillion dollars doing things that aren't running sports franchises and now have each run a franchise into the ground in ~2-3 years. Those numbers are absurd. That millions are available to be dumped for no gain every year bottles my mind
So you think he could be CU bound?Chiefs dad is a football promoter and knows a lot of famous coaches and players. Chief grew up with and knows a lot of these people too (including Deion), so I'm guessing he has a lot of people in his ear about his worth.
Hot take. Terrible take, but hot take.I’m sorry but if we’re paying our DL half a mil we are overpaying. Aren’t even top tier of the big ten
I don't think so. I think his dad is smart enough not to get him in that mess. But with as crazy as things are now it wouldn't surprise me either. So you think he could be CU bound?
Is it really a “major” hit to lose a guy who hasn’t really contributed much at a deep position?
If they truly trotted out 1s vs 1s for the first series, he did not start. Sherman started there.I’m not surprised with the “well we didn’t like you anyway” response, but this is not one of the players we wanted in the portal. He was starting at Jack for us which allowed Gbayor to play LB given our weakness there.
He's small and okay at best at the point of attack.I’m not surprised with the “well we didn’t like you anyway” response, but this is not one of the players we wanted in the portal. He was starting at Jack for us which allowed Gbayor to play LB given our weakness there.

Butler too. Although he seems to be growing into d end. He's small and okay at best at the point of attack.
I am not hating, I liked what he said and what he showed online but that's all I have to go off of.
For all I know he's a great kid. That doesn't mean we should overreact to him leaving.
1.) Princewill
2.) Sherman
3.) McGahee
I think it's a position that can handle the 3rd guy in the rotation leaving.
Exactly. Done basically nothing on the field. Doesn't hurt us at all.How will we ever make up the 3 solo tackles?
I would bet he goes to a G5 to be able to start. He had multiple chances at Power 5 schools. There are lots of back ups earning 6 figures at Nebraska. The only difference between Nebraska and the big time NIL players like USC, Oregon, Ohio State, Tennessee, Bama, Georgia, Penn State, Texas, A&M, and Notre Dame is the amount of money they are paying the elite difference makers. But, Nebraska is doing a good job of balancing out the NIL. Newcomers, Freshmen, and back ups are getting paid pretty evenly.
Here's an example:
Fidone will get paid between a 400 and 500k package next season. That's good money. But the aforementioned schools above would all be willing to double that amount at the minimum.
On the flipside, a player like Chief Borders earning 120K in NIL at Nebraska is higher than what a 4th year non contributor would add at Bama or Ohio State. Hell, they would run him off.
Don't be surprised to see Borders end up at a G5 program or if he goes to another Power 5. And don't be surprised to see him in the portal again.
