Chad Morris

Allen, TX football may be more a more impressive gig than DONU at this point. I'd take him yesterday for a one year prove it period.

The Facility Arms race down there is so ridiculous. I visited a school down there that had a similar stadium, a 30 million dollar indoor practice facility, and had a dedicated training table for players to get breakfast lunch and dinner throughout the school year.

Oklahoma has some crazy ones too, I was at Jenks HS a few months ago and their stadium, gym and athletic facility is better than a third of the Big10

Yet with all this preparation and talent, Texass Whorns still sucks. Truly amazing.

He had a two year guaranteed deal at Auburn that wasn’t tied to Malzahn’s contract like assistants typically are. So he making 7 figures this year to sit and coach high school football. Add to it the money Arkansas is still paying him and I don’t think he was under much pressure to find a new lucrative job that forced him to not be able to watch his son play college football.
If it is Chad, would his son be part of the package deal? 3rd school in 3 years?

Fair point. I have no idea why he isn't an OC somewhere. Failed twice as an HC, maybe wanted to get away from the college game for a bit. No idea.
Assumption would be it has something to do with buyout - Similar to why guys go be Analysts while their previous school pays their real salary. I would assume he's still getting fat ass checks from being canned at Arkansas, but still gets to actually coach big time TX ball.

UT definitely isn’t “the cool school” anymore which just kills them. Plus talent in Texas is already coached and developed so close to their max potential skill wise so it’s so easy to project what they’ll do in college. SEC schools and Oklahoma just stroll in and grabs the kids that will be difference makers at the next level. Texas doesn’t automatically get their pick of 80% of the top 20 of them anymore

We are fucked no matter who we hire. Frost is done after 2022. It just doesn’t matter.
CAN WE AT LEAST HAVE FUN IN THE OFFSEASON!

Piss off with this - discuss the coaching hires. Don't prognosticate future firings. This is the only fun I have left and I'll be DAMNED if you piss on it JOSH!

(not really that mad - but that was fun to type angry on a monday morning)

No idea. I wouldn’t know if he’s better than Smothers. Probably not the profile of kid you’re looking for in the portal.

never goes well with father/son coach/qb situations

This is too good of a year in the portal already to bring in Morris. Should be better options out there and I wouldn't want to mess with the father/son thing at all.

I haven't read this thread. But bring Chad Morris son with him from TCU = please yes

Fun fact, Chad Morris was the head coach at Elysian Fields High School in East Texas. My dad took over at Waskom High School. Waskom and EF are bitter rivals. My dad coached 2 years against him before he moved on to I believe Bay City, then Stephenville and then to the college ranks. My dad's career path...not as successful lol. But still a good career.

My question would be, if he is a home run coordinator hire, why is he coaching high school ball? Is this like where we spin all low rated recruits as diamonds in the rough, or is there a legitimate reason he is not currently coaching in college?
He's coaching at Allen High School for goodness sake. That's the top job in Texas High School football. Kyler Murray's alma mater

Yeah he's really struggling

He's in the 4th round of the playoffs and just beat Euless Trinity 11-1 (now 11-2) by 38 points

Their 2 losses to a Prosper team that is the next Allen (see their stadium and facilities) that is also still in the playoffs and Atascacita team out of Humble (north Houston that is 11-2 and still playing in the playoffs.
