The NFL is the highest level of the sport. The mountain top. The top minds in the game populate all levels of decision making throughout the league. And with that being said, NFL teams have set the standard and financial market for the two most important positions on a football team. They are the quarterback and the left tackle. They are the two positions that are drafted the earliest and paid the most. If you are rebuilding the team you usually start there. They are the two spots that must be solid if you are going to have a good football team. You literally try to build out from there.

On Nebraska, the guys playing those two positions are the two worst players on the team. It is a cardinal sin in football terms.

For all of the "Miamification" of Colorado....the custom pregame suits, the turnover throne, rappers and celebs on the sideline......things for the record I never want for Nebraska football.....they were at least smart enough to not commit the cardinal sin of screwing up their QB pick. Colorado, a team that has been worse than Nebraska recently went out and got an effective (excellent even) quarterback. Nebraska has the opposite. Ineffective. And at some points it's worse than that. Not only is Jeff Sims ineffective, he is destructive. He is actually working against his own team. Can anybody say that Nebraska wasn't the better team on Saturday outside of the QB?

That brings us to the LT position. Turner Corcoran should not be playing high level football. But somehow, despite piles and piles of evidence to support that claim, we have entrenched him as a starter for 3 years now.

You can't go against the time tested laws of football and expect to have success. You need a good QB and solid LT to claim to be a serious football team. It's like trying to play basketball without a point guard.....wait.... Nebraska does that too. I give up.

We have boosters who could deliver truck loads of money to Baker and Brix. We’ll see whether we’ve learned anything from the Rouse debacle.

Just a keen observation of mine, but it would have been pretty impossible to screw up their QB considering it's the coach's son.

Lets ignore Sims turnovers for a minute 🫠

The WRs did nothing to help him Saturday. How many dropped passes were there that hit the WR in the hands that would have converted first downs? I only mention that to say that I don't think Casey would've been helped much Saturday and certainly wouldn't have broken off a 50 yd TD.

At the same time he probably limits you to 1-2 turnovers, his presence probably opens up the box a bit more and he's proven to be better than Haarberg.

Yeah, but how many times were there other WR's open and Simms flat out ignored them? I ddn't watch the game, but heard on the stream broadcast that Simms missed at least an open WR a few times that could've resulted in a TD. Either the OL is so bad and Simms doesn't have time to check down or he already has his mind up before the snap to where he's throwing the ball which causes him to lock on to his target and be easily picked off. Maybe HH will get the start this weekend to see what he can do while Simms let's his ankle heal up.

I think his mind is made up before the snap. The way he stares at receivers make me uncomfortable, kind of like a blind man staring at you.

I remember a couple instances against CU where he clearly went through his progressions and found an open receiver. I think it's just a mental thing with reading defenses and not using his eyes to manipulate the secondary.

He had a few nice passing downs on Saturday. Just some questionable decision making and locks on in crunch time.

Honestly it seems like he is very effective when he has a clean pocket.

Unfortunately...
I rewatched his passing downs and when he has a pocket he's pretty good. When there's a need for urgency to score, like when he threw the pick, he gets jumpy. If you watch that play he feels some pressure from the left but it's actually well blocked, pocket is there but he scrambles to his right and throws to the flat like 2 seconds late.

A lot of mental. But I can't forgive him for looking at fumbled balls with no sense of urgency. That's probably what pissed me off most.
