It’s also a lot of people 35-50 that were growing up when Ragweed blew up and then when the band died for 15 years or whatever everyone’s hopes and dreams died. When they announced this last year we all get to relive our childhood now. Plus it’s fun listening to live music. This is surprising to me. I went through a phase where I loved CCR in college/right after but let’s be honest, they were never a massive band and they haven’t put out any new music in over 15 years.
I get the sentimentality but it’s not like their songs are incredible. I mean, they have 382k monthly listeners on Spotify. A couple weeks ago I watched a band with twice as many as that play at Sokol in Omaha. I really can’t imagine CCR is that big of a draw, but maybe I’m just out of touch with how Gen X consumes their music.
I think a lot of people underestimate the draw of the red dirt scene. Hell, Cody jinks said in a podcast in one year he went from $200k in debt to having a million dollars in the bank. Went from playing 350 shows down to I think he said like 20-30 big shows a year and he’s set for life.
I got my tickets yesterday. I’ll be fat and happy.
