Tale as old as time: a school racks up a great record out west the comes to state and falls flat.

Ogallalla (24-1, 2 seed in C1) loses to Doniphan-Trumbull 57-45 in the first round.
5-seed Ashland-Greenwood beats 4-seed Cozad (24-3) 60-45.

So far, those are the only two upsets of the tournament (which TBF is less than halfway through the first round).

I've been at state basketball pretty much every year for the past 15 or so years. And granted I've never seen them play, but this Lincoln Southwest team has to be the worst class A team I've seen at state.

Not that it would have mattered, but I think they said Ogallala's best player went down in practice the day before. As a Western Nebraska guy it does suck. Always seems to happen. With that said, still a good accomplishment. I think both Cozad and OG are near the bottom in enrollment and are closer to the C2 group then B group.

It's also weird to me that a bunch of lower tier C schools are B in some sports as well. I don't know enough about it but looking at state wrestling there were some schools that surprised me being in class B that are C in everything else.

Nevermind the fact that Ogallalla beat Doniphan-Trumbull by 43 points earlier in the season. Lol.

This was more a pure upset than East vs. West. And DT plays more Western schools than Eastern schools anyway.

their 24 ppg scorer missed the game with a sprained ankle. and had another starter go down in the 3rd.
