Press conference on Wednesday. KU friend texted me he might be sitting out a year or retiring cause of health issues

Was talking about this the other day with a buddy who is a Kansas fan. We both feel that he needs to retire before he ends up killing himself.

I was told just his usual end of season press conference. Don't expect any big news. Yes he bought a new place on the beach in Florida. It's basically in the same complex he currently has a place so he is upgrading in size. Many people don't know but he sold his house in Lawrence a few years ago. He was living in the Oread Hotel but now rents a house, that use to be owned by Danny Manning

That rooftop bar at the Oread is sweet.

I've never been there. Normally find myself hanging at The Hawk, Leroys, Clyde's, Jeffersons, Shinango or The Wheel when I'm back in Lawrence. Basically roll around with my brother & his friends to the places they own or hang out at.
I don't think "The Hawk" is the "The Hawk" anymore. My wife liked the Red Lyon when she was at KU, mostly because they had free popcorn. That woman loves popcorn.

Used to live right across the street from The Hawk. Life was really fun when I could see The Hawk, The Wheel, and the Bull from my bedroom window lmao.

Something is definitely up. I was pretty shocked last week when 4 Jayhawks entered the portal and Dick then announced he was going to the NBA. I don't ever remember another time when KU lost 5 underclassmen after a season.

Its KU. Those dudes were already making bank in NIL and literally got their dicks sucked by hot Leawood debutantes every night.

The Hawk is still the Hawk. When business slowed down in the 90's or early 2000's they changed the name to The O Street and then the 19th Amendment for a year or 2 but went back to the Hawk and have kept it. Technically it is The Jayhawk Cafe but they call it The Hawk. They have added to it over the years as now they also have 2 bars downstairs (The Boom Boom Room & Martini Room) plus added the beer garden out back. It's all the Hawk but they have named the rooms. They will be working on a new bar next door soon. Finally got approval from the city. Gonna tear down a building/house they own next door to build a new bar there.

McCullar might be coming back now. He's making enough in NIL that potentially would be making more than playing in Europe or D League.

The KU players who entered the Portal weren't starters or projected to be Starters next season. Rice is talented but they are worried because he's been injured every season, even in high school. Had a litany of small injuries this season. I was surprised to see him enter the portal. Definitely talented but struggled to get into any rhythm when he was in the games. I'd love to see the Huskers go after Clemence or Rice.

As an avid KU fan, I will echo this.

Yesufu - Never materialized into a "spark of the bench" type of player. Took a flyer on a guy that had a great tourney performance with Drake.
Pettiford - No offensive game at all and his ball distribution was questionable at best when her relieved Harris.
Clemence - Never became the stretch 5 he was projected to be and soft on defense.
Cam Martin - Non contributor all the way around.
MJ Rice - Couldn't ever stay healthy.

None of them are a loss and we should be able to find upgrades in the Portal.

You might have rented from my brother and/or one of his business partners. They own all kinds of rentals around those bars to limit noise and other complaints. Bought them and put that in the Leases. Nobbie, who owns The Wheel, owns a building right across from the Hawk. It has 1 bedroom apartments which is unusual in that area.
