4:30 in the morning a group of teenagers stole our truck and took it for about a 2 hour, 70 mile joyride before ditching it around 33rd and M street. Smoked weed inside it, threw out of 3 car seats in the back of the truck, hit a curb fucking up the wheel and put a hole in a tire. All things considered nothing too major. Able to locate it instantly with the Ford Pass app and got it back within a few hours of discovering it missing.

Dumbasses left a ton of fingerprints all over the touchscreen and left their portable ash tray. Between the neighborhoods camera they ditched it, our block, and the evidence left behind they should be caught fairly easy.

DNA isn’t going to be used for a stolen vehicle unless they killed someone’s last night.

Sucks, but glad you got your pick up back.

Both officers I talked to said they're probably going to try pulling DNA. There has been a string of vehicles stolen in north Lincoln since school got out. 5 overnight last night, 5 Saturday, and 4 Thursday. Typically they see 3-4 per week. They think it's the same group of 10-12 kids each time they go out.

My friend is a sergeant in our area and the officer on the case goes to our church.

Lincoln is such a shitwhole. I’ve lived on the bad side of Benson in Omaha for 3 years and live in South O now and have never had any problems.

My coworker had her vehicle stolen a few years ago in Bennington. Cops tracked down the vehicle, there was a shootout, no one was arrested. The police had the vehicle for weeks but never found any evidence inside it. My coworker got the vehicle back and looked inside it and found a cell phone the day she got it back.

They ended tracking down who did it, this kid and his dad and uncle who had all been arrested before for the same shit.

Nothing ever came of it though, cops never did anything, no one was prosecuted

They couldn't find any evidence but she found a cell phone in it? Sounds like they tried really hard 🤣

They shot at policemen and weren't arrested? Were they wearing BLM stickers or what?

I think it was the kid that fired the shots, courts are always lenient with kids

I strongly believe that people who steal vehicles attempt to steal vehicles should get 20+ years behind bars

Obviously dangerous but it also fucks up peoples livelihoods

My parents' car got stolen when I was a kid. Thieves left stuff in there, including a cassette in the tape deck, and I was so sure when I saw that that the police would fingerprint it and find the punks. I was so disillusioned when they didn't even try.
