I just moved from maybe Rhule can still turn it around to Rhule getting fired is inevitable. The positive about back to back bowl games is that Rhule was a better choice than Riley and Frost.

Kinda feel like 2026 will be 2021 all over again, maybe 2 score losses instead of 1, and then we'll just all be waiting for it to drop in 2027. Ek walks and the fan base will turn on Rhule and it won't be quiet.

You're probably right. I want/wanted it to work out and maybe just maybe it still will. I just know that a few years back lots of people were clamoring for Fred to be ousted. Now look at us go!

I think we need to stay the course...damn the icebergs. Let this guy try to make this thing work....Let the changes take effect... Let the chips fall where they may. We have seen the alternative several times over.

Being hand delivered an elite STC and not being able to retain him for any reason, but especially if he didnt want to lose a position coach for it, would make me genuinely pissed at him.

It remains to be seen what will happen and why, but not wanting to give him a position room would be one of the dumbest fucking things in recent Nebraska history.

I don't know what the details are for his departure but I certainly hope that gaining a position coach or not letting Ek coach a position wasn't linked to losing him.

I also had low expectations for peak Nebrasketball. Like my hope was to win one tourney game as a 7-10 seed.

Also considering the disparity in what the athletic department spends on football vs basketball. Nebraska is in the top ten for what they spend on football. The fact they can't even put a product on the field that is competitive with a bad Minnesota team and Cockeye is pretty alarming. They both stomped Rhule's ass this year when he has every resource available to not suck ass.

I'll put it this way for now. Thank god we are a basketball school now. I don't have to spend all my time thinking about football.

A lot of my attention can be spent of the next two plus months on the court and opening day for the baseball team in Scottsdale.

Sigh. I’ll always be the optimist.

But I have no expectations for 2026 or 2027. I hope to god we make a bowl game in 2026 because if we don’t 2027 will be a bloodbath (assuming Rhule is here in 2027).

Too many things have gone wrong in Rhules tenure and he is not a good enough game day coach to coach his way out of this.

I think if we can’t fund NIL to top levels and cannot attract a better HC and staff that you just ride it out with Rhule until 2028. We would at least have the 2027 class on campus at that point. The amount of obvious mistakes he’s made is really frustrating from his first staff to not getting a DT or two out of the portal before this last season considering what we had coming back. Maybe six years of rebuilding this crater will put us in a better position. I just don’t think we have the nil or cache to bring in someone better.
