Hoiberg is completely the opposite. Team gets punched in the face and he keeps his cool
Very true. I do appreciate that.

He still hasn’t led us to a big dance win.

In a lot of ways (and I do like him as a coach) we have had some bad teams and been very average over the years.

There are plenty of people who still want Fred fired because of how his tenure started at NU. He didn’t win right away, so in their minds nothing he’s doing now matters — he failed, end of story. Just wait until they drop their first game, and the vultures will be circling again.

Which brings me to Rhule… what exactly do the “this isn’t going to work” guys want done? I’m not seeing many actual solutions, just the assumption that his tenure is doomed no matter what. So what’s the plan — fire him now? Fire him next year even if he wins 6–7 games and currently has the #5 recruiting class in 2027? Blow it all up and start over again? Or maybe, just maybe, show a little patience and see how the thing progresses.

I’m not thrilled with how this year ended, but I’m also not melting down over it once DR went down. Next year could fall apart and Rhule could get fired — fair enough, he’d earn that if things truly cratered. But maybe showing a little patience for a guy who just delivered back-to-back bowl seasons for the first time in a decade isn’t the worst idea.

Let’s see how the portal shakes out and how that 2027 class continues to develop before we toss everything in the trash and start from scratch yet again.

Okay, if you want to be pedantic about it. In practice there are likely always going to be plenty of high quality transfers available.

Pedantic. Nice.

Yes, there are going to be a large number of high quality transfers available.

Here’s Hoping we get the high quality guys we need.

The list of coaches who were .500 after 3 seasons and ended up competing for conference championships is basically nonexistent, so unless you’re happy with 8-9 win seasons max we might as well fire him and try again with the next guy.

This thought that we should keep mediocre coaches because we need stability is absurd. Coaches don’t just magically start winning.

The fire Rhule guys have said it out loud in multiple threads. Fire him now, don’t wait, and keep going with the three year cycle until we find the lightning in a bottle winner.

They have outlined how everything (except maybe Ekeler) is trash.

There are deficiencies. Mistakes have been made. We need to be better obviously. There has been improvements. What I do appreciate about Rhule is he makes changes and adjustments. Hopefully he makes more and gets it right.

I think many and I get it, are stuck in the doom cycle. It’s hard mentally to get out of it, once you are in it. It makes it very tough to see anything objectively.

I am frustrated by results and can appreciate some improvements have been made as well. Two things can be true at once. I’m not ready to get off the Rhule train and I’m interested in what transpires in the portal and with the staff.

We supposedly have big NIL available this year, let’s see if it leads to big gains in the trenches. Let’s see if changes on staff are made. Time will tell.
