If he loses the next two games he would deserve being fired but that’s not happening. Wisconsin and Cockeye are very beatable teams with flaws. Not easy W’s but ones you should expect your highly paid staff to pull off at some point.

I hate to ask this question, but how much are we really improved over the Frost era? We’re trying to convince ourselves that improvement is taking place but where are the results? I don’t want to hear any “year two” bullshit, look at how other new hires are performing in CFB.

If his name was Joe Schmoe and if he loses the last two games he’s getting fired. I don’t think anyone can deny that.

But if we lose these last two games there is no question he’ll be on the hot seat going into next season.

The collapse these last two seasons are awful. And not even the sunniest of sunshine pumpers can’t deny that.

It’s starting to get pretty edgy with rhule.

I think what would help somewhat is telling most of or all of the upper classmen (juniors and seniors) and some sophomores who still have eligibility next year to hit the portal. Even some of the ones we like who will be productive. We need to get rid of the loser mentality and it’s bleeding into the younger guys like Raiola and Barney creating a vicious cycle. Yes the players in the portal might be less productive (I’m of the opinion there is a good reason they are in the portal in the first place) than the one they replace BUT hopefully they bring with a fresh mental state that they don’t think the worst when the game gets tight near the end. While I’m still in on Rhule and think he was probably a better choice than a coach like Sanders, that doesn’t mean everything he’s doing is wrong. He cleaned out a loser mentality out of the program. Even Cignetti brought with him players who aren’t big 4 and 5 star players, but they have a winning mentality.

If you can’t win 6+ games at NU in any given year (based upon the resources available - especially now in the portal/NIL era), then there should be no allowance for any coaching staff. True last year, especially true this year.

Rhule’s failures and strengths/weaknesses are now obvious. He needs to gut the roster & coaching staff (O & ST) then be limited to the CEO face of the program (as his gameday decisions are some of the worst I have ever seen).

What’s the point of having him as head coach then? Other than not wanting to pay his huge buyout

I go back and forth on that and am hard pressed to say that we are any better on the field. Are things behind the scenes better? Most likely but who really knows especially with all of the losses.

Hopefully Rhule and the coaching staff don't think we are better than we are because of the bad breaks that cost us yesterday. There are all kinds of holes in this team and there have been more performances of the Illinois, Indiana, Rutgers, and UCLA type than of the Ohio State and Colorado first half.

Moving on from Satterfield makes me think he will be ruthless and do what is needed to get the program moving forward. Of course he's the one who put Satterfield and brought us Simms andn Foley in the first place. Will his moves work out? Who knows.

My biggest concern is that neither of Rhule's Nebraska teams got better and developed as the season went on. We are at our peak in September. After that it is all downhill. Fast. We are on the cusp of back to back Novembers without a win.

Realistically, there are few schools that would let a coach with this type of performance back for another year and no school that has the resources of DONU that would bring him back.

I think we are definitely better from an administrative standpoint. Better people, more organized, and I believe Rhule has a long-term vision for the program and he and his people are working towards that. Rhule isn’t going anywhere, so we are going to find out if that vision will work.

He needs to continue upgrading the staff and all signs point to him doing that.

lot of good points in this thread. right now id say im about stage 4 in the grieving process.

i like rhule, i want this to work, i feel sympathy for any coach coming here because they have to turn around a losing culture while fighting the malaise that's surrounded this program for decades now.

i suppose this is my way of convincing myself to give him more time.

Rhule has positives, recruiting being one of them.

He thought he could get it done at NU (largely) with his guys. He didn’t. Conclusively. Rhule could be a successful executive HC in my opinion but that entirely depends on his offseason moves to improve his coaching staff.

He already has what everyone covets, monetary support, both organizational support, facilities, and most of all the QB with elite-level skill. But that QB, like any other, needs a better system…better position coaching…better protection…& better surrounding talent.

Remind me who it was that hired Satt and didn't replace him in the offseason with Holgorsen like he should have? That would be the same guy who hired a WR coach who has never had to shave and a special teams coach who's only talent seems to be finding greasy spoons to serve him chicken fried steaks.
I don’t remember too many people blaming Satt for last season, he got a pass right or wrong. I recall some names like Peetz and Snow that Rhule wanted to hire but it did not work out. I am giving Rhule the benefit of the doubt for making the OC change. I am hoping we see some progress yet this season.

No, I am not out yet. I am not happy with the results at all, but I’ve been on the TPB from the beginning and saw endless excuses made for Frost...excuses by posters ITT. Now, not even fully through year two, as Rhule is already making staff changes to hopefully get better, it is too late and already over. Lol...Never change Husker Nation.

While I am probably way too pessimistic way too early, it has nothing to do with Rhule not being a Nebraska ties dude. It's more of the cumulative effect of the post Bo misery

I'm a Rhuliever. Done some soul searching and here is my theory:

Rhule took Raiola over McCord. Sacrificing the short term for the long term. With McCord Nebraska probably could have had a solid building season and would be 7-3 or 6-4 right now, but we would kind of be back in the same place again looking for a transfer in 2025 with a lower upside. With Raiola it looked like were gonna skip the freshmen wall, but it has hit him. My hope is that he is having his sophomore slump now in the back half of his freshmen year and that he will be ready to go next year. He looked too good for that not to be the case.

But, maybe the simulation is playing the long game and spiting us again. It would be a chess move by the simulation if Rhule's downfall was due to taking the #1 QB recruit in the nation.

I don't rule it out, but I am far from that point. I have to still believe for my mental health.
