Indianus is successful because they step on their opponents throat and keep it there. We were sold the excuse that Rhule just wants a win and running up the score doesn't matter. I think they CAN'T run up the score with this team.
This is the thing that pisses me off about Rhule’s “win like an NFL team” comments. NFL teams absolutely try to step on the other teams throat with the lead if they can but the parity is better so you don’t see it happen as much. They don’t stick their fingers up their ass when they get up by a TD. Just look at the lions trying to run it up on the Cowboys the other week and trying to get their linemen touchdowns. Rhule is absolutely lost in his philosophy.

I hate that type of football tbh. I’d much rather pour on points than the alternative.

He's fucking shook...I think his stubborn loyalty to some of his assistant coaches will destroy him if he doesn't take action.

Here's something I thought about from previous games. We got 5 wins, but how many of those wins were despite our offense shitting the bed for half the game. Let's even look at the Colorado game, if I remember right, we didn't score at all in the 2nd half.

Rhule needs to stop trying to make excuses and take action, cause right now he looks scared and lost. Lots of stuttering nervous answers with no substance. I have a very very bad feeling about this.

We watched a different presser

God bless you if you found confidence and leadership in that presser. You have a faith that I do not possess.

He was answering questions honestly. We sucked, it was owned.

Regardless, 1 bad loss in year two is not time to go out. Let it play out.

I think the biggest thing is - the "here we go again" mindset. We expect to lose still.

Rhule talked about players doing their assignment well on each play. Realistically, a player is not always going to win or hold serve on their assignment, but man, overall the team needs to do much better in this aspect. We got our asses beat on one on one assignments all game. Some of this stuff - like our WR's never being able to make a single block on bubble screens - that shit has to get better.

Then there is the aspect of, are the coordinators calling things that put the other team on their heels, or at least making the other team question if they are in the right play call or defensive set. And I think it is obvious that our OC and DC have been getting outcoached nearly every game in this aspect.

There are a lot of problems that need fixing. Trying to do that against OSU is tough. But if these guys just fold on the field, it will be a bad sign. They have to at least fight and put up a better effort, even if they lose. I hate going into games where pretty much everyone thinks/knows we have little to no chance, especially coming off getting our asses beat down so bad by Indianus. The team mindset cannot be good right now, the confidence is almost certainly very low going into OSU. So use this game to show you improved over the week of practice, even if we lose, show that the mindset has improved. Because we have 4 more games after OSU and we should at the very least be "able" to win any of them.

Not to make this too deep and this isn't a shot at you by any means, more of just pointing out decades of coach speak that we constantly hear after games.......how the fuck do we go about "it has to get better"? I mean damn, constant groups of staffs saying that shit over the last 2 decades. Again, this isn't at you, I just respect your responses to legitimate things given your experience.

I woke up Sunday and took the dogs for a walk so had a while to think, and man I just do not give a flying hoot about any coach speak Rhule lets out there or any cliches the players give. We just got routed by Indianus who is filled with FCS players. The hell are we if we're getting our manhood taken by FCS players?

In fairness, Cignetti is whipping a ton of ass so far halfway into his first season with Mid-Major players.

What does the term "total rebuild" even mean anymore
Those mid-major players were whipping ass last year - they're used to it. They hit on their MAC QB, too, that has thrown for nearly 10k yards in his career and fair play to them. Dude is money and is extremely composed.

Unfortunately, it seems like some of the 4th, 5th, and 6th year players on Nebraska's rosters are just so accustomed to losing that they'll fold at any sight of adversity and just resort to bad habits.

Now, why can't Nebraska do the same? Great question.

In reverse fairness, probably 40+ other teams trying to rebuild are on a first or second year head coach who's not remotely getting results this quickly. And likely several of those coaches will end up doing good things.

The Cignetti at IU or Frost at UCF type scenarios are lightning in a bottle exceptions and by no means a rational baseline expectation.

What is it you're actually suggesting be done?

I hate the portal, but it has unfortunately shown that total rebuilds are a thing of the past. Maybe half rebuild is a better phrase?

It's probably time to show some older guys the door unfortunately, because I'm so sick of that constant phrase from the program of "reverting back to their old ways". Alright, cool, go get some fellas who don't know what that's like then.

Media and the fan base needs to take some blame as well as that is a constant god damn narrative 24/7 365 around here. Get some guys who have no idea what that means. Tradition is cool, legacy players are cool, people who are familiar with what we do is cool, but god damn get some winners in here. I'm sick of losing to teams who attack the portal and embarrass us on national TV while we're too busy trying to play the right guys because they never make bad decisions.

In but conditional upon him fixing areas of the team that need fixing. If he handles those quickly then hes in.

I'm not implying it's an expectation. I'm just saying the narrative from coaches about shit taking time is just old at this point. This is the 7th straight year we've heard it, while we keep getting our asses beat in the Big 10 by teams with a pulse.

You would think that it is time to let some of the younger guys experience the growing pains, rather than see the same individuals fold time after time.
