Are we back on the Hoiberg train?

But Scotty cares so much more. 🙄
But he is FROM Lincoln and his grand papa coached here. Pull at the heart strings. No way in hell we are going to drop 18 mil on hoiberg but not on Frost. That makes zero financial sense to me. Fred can only go up just like Frost.

I just don't see why Hoiberg can't use the exact same excuse as Frost.

"Hey Husker Nation, when I first got here, I wanted to get wins for you and I felt the best way was to take some gambles on transfers. Unfortunately, that hasn't gone to plan. Over the last 2 years we have aggressively recruited the HS level and have signed 2 classes that will establish a foundation moving forward. I want nothing more than to take NU to places it has never been and though the first approach didn't work I am confident we can move this in the right direction." PS I took over a program with zero history in over 120 years of making any sort of noise in March and your chosen son has the worst win percentage at dear old Nebraska U in any of your lifetimes. Let me fix this or pay me 18 million George Washingtons.

Sincerely,
The Mayor
I agree. It seems like their is a Double Standard from the TC Boosters and the Media. In 4 years of futility with Frost we have never seen 1 bad article about Frost or callers allowed to ask nasty questions to him on the radio. Feels very Un-Nebraska Like to bash a coach in the media like they have Fred as Radio and Newsprint both taking serious shots at Fred. Tells me the TC wants him gone or at least make him the source of fans angst. Wag the Dog Political move, create a coach who is more hated than Frost to take the pressure off of Scott and the Football Program.

Hoiberg is a highly respected coach. I know his name is brought up as a replacement at Kansas if Bill Self leaves. I spoke with George Karl and asked him what he thought of Hoiberg and he was highly impressed with Fred as a Coach. George said he couldn't believe we were able to get Fred, thought he would bring us success. I gotta believe he can turn this around when those sources think he is legit.

I think Fred needs to change his recruiting strategy a bit as we are getting killed in the paint. Every year the B1G seems to have so many of the top Centers in the country. Purdue and Illinois have 2 big ole beasts at Center. Seems like every year Purdue has at least 1 Center who is 7+ feet tall and good. If we get better big post players that should open things up a bit on the perimeter for our shooters. Adding a true PG that can break down a defense plus a couple quality Bigs seems like ingredients needed to improve next season. There is no reason a 4 Out or 5 Out Offense can't work in the B1G but I think you need to get that elite middle that can defend, block shots and rebound to succeed. Not sure we will have that kinda recruiting chops without winning a bunch of games first.

He hasnt had to build a culture yet because he has had so much roster turnover that one hasnt formed.

Has he even been trying to build a culture? Possibly the single most damning thing was a couple weeks ago when Kobe Webster said "He always talks about player-led teams. How can you expect another player to hold his teammate accountable if the coaches don’t hold them accountable?”

I dont think he has because he thought he could throw a roster of transfers together from free agency and make it work. That was a poor approach. But if we arent willing to can Frost for 18 mil I dont know why an inferior revenue sport is worth spending 18 mil to fire the current HC. Additionally what was Frost doing in year 3? If Frost needs what appears like 6 years (i dont see us firing him this year) then why doesn't Fred need 6 years to see if he can win more than he loses?

Hoiberg: *scraps entire roster*

Hoiberg 3 years later: "Huh, why don't I have any upperclassmen leaders on this team?"

Next year will be a shit show same as this year. We’ll be losing our best player (Bryce) and a few other contributors.

It’s hard to get excited about potential transfers because we’ve done that for 3 seasons now and it hasn’t worked.

Our 2 HS commits at least look decent🤷🏽‍♂️
