Apple don't fall far from the tree. This is her daughter Sally Taylor. I did a bunch of concerts with her. Talented musician with a beautiful voice. Totally chill cool chicka. Can't say how nice she is, really down to earth and a great hang. Also did some shows with her brother Ben Taylors band. Also cool but he really liked his mushrooms. He left his cell phone at my venue after a show, not the first time that ever happened with a fucked up musician. I got a text the next day from his dad James Taylor asking if his phone was at my place.

She's a pretty lady. I didn't realize we had a serious musician in our midst!

I'm can't sing, dance, play an instrument, write songs....... but I can put on a hell of a concert. I owned a Live Music Venue and worked in that industry for a couple decades. Still have quite a few connections in the industry. Been involved at some level with over 2,000 shows. Loved it and miss it but don't miss Babysitting the musicians and the long late hours.

Now that you say that, I think I recall you talking about concerts at Red Rocks in another thread. Despite some headaches, I would guess you have some good stories and met some interesting people as well as some that were a major pain in the ass.

I could write a fucking book on the stories but would never throw the musicians under the bus like that. Honestly most of the bands/musicians were quite easy to work with as long as you knew how to deal with them.

About the only musicians I had real issues with were Warren Zevon, Vince Neil & Edgar Winters. They were major Diva Pains. Some others were arrogant assholes so those I was professional with them but didn't hang out with them. No reason to waste time getting to be friends with them. Ludicrous pissed me off too as he didn't want to show up for a paid After Party. Told him I was taking the ticket money and buying the entire crowd a round of beers & Jagger Shots with his portion of the tickets. He showed up 15 minutes later. Also Fergie accused me of hitting on her and said she wasn't going to sleep with me. Literally all I did was introduce myself and showed them where the Green Room was. I had this shocked look on my face as she walked by after saying that to me. The rest of the Black Eyed Peas were laughing their asses off so I looked at them and said "alright, anyone of you MF'ers that haven't hit that can laugh at me". They all started looking around towards the ceiling chuckling. We were buddies after that. Cool guys and we tore some shit up that night, and no we did not bring Fergie along with us to party after the show.

For Bands I had to yell at The Wailers, only time I ever came truly unglued on actual band members, as they didn't go out for the Encore because someone brought them some seriously dank weed in the Green Room. Dealing with Wu Tang Klan & Sublime/Long Beach Dub All Stars was always an adventure. It was like babysitting stoned toddlers or herding cats. We were happy if they showed up on time for Sound Check, or even of they were only an hour or 2 late. Sublime/Long Beach Dub All Stars once showed up 9 hours late for sound check, literally 40 minutes before they were supposed to go on stage to perform. And getting those 2 bands on the stage and later off the stage was a true adventure. I almost got into a Fist Fights with the Roadies for Disco Biscuits, manager of Papa Gros Funk and the manager of Ky-Mani Marley. Speaking of Fights, Tone Loc and his band helped me out when I was literally pinned against the stage in a big brawl with 3 yuge Samoan brothers.

Fuck appears I got a bunch more I just remembered. Could go on all day. Loved working in that industry and interacting with all of the big personalities and characters. Never a boring moment.

Who in real life is the furthest removed from their public reputation/persona?

Not a musician or actor but Buffalo QB Jim Kelly was a real arrogant asshat. Loving Family man for the cameras but an obnoxious arrogant tool that snuck off with a washed up old Stewardess. Not gonna lie but if I had drank enough tequila I would have hit it too but I wasn't an All Pro QB in his prime tagging some 50 something year old stewardess far from her prime.

I saw this article from a few years ago. I'd forgotten how many live music venues around Vail have closed over the years.

That was mine, 8150. Brings a tear to my eye. Technically not mine when it closed as I had sold it during the 03/04 ski season. I started 8150 in 1999 but then then our landlord told us in the fall of 2003 that they were tearing down the building in the spring of 2004. I basically gave the business away because I needed to sink about $100,000 into renovations, repairs and sound equipment for that winter which we never would have made back in that short of time. Landlord had a $553 million redevelopment for the Crossroads and offered me a space in the new building that was 60% smaller plus had 8-10 ft ceilings. Never could have done concerts there. Turns out he wasn't able to get the approval from the condos to tear it down so eventually sold it to Peter Nobles (sp?) who got the issues taken care of thus started in 2007 and completed the redevelopment in 2009.

I also did some work with the Amphitheater and other Vail Festivals plus State Bridge Lodge. We helped open Levelz in Steamboat but had to shut down the music venue because the building had structural issues. Worked with the Fox Theater in Boulder, Sherpa & Yeti's in Breckenridge, Blue 52 in Colorado Springs, Double Diamond in Aspen..... most of the owners/promoters worked together bringing in tours to Colorado. Big enough state that mid level touring bands could play in 5-6 different cities. Worked with lots of outdoor festivals plus the resorts in Keystone, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain. Loved doing the summer outdoor festivals in the Colorado.

Later had a few opportunities to go into tour management but hard to do that when you have a kid. Wouldn't have been there for her when I was traveling around 6-9 months out of the year. Was approached by Pearl Jam Management about a Tour Manager position. I knew Smitty, their tour manager, wasn't going anywhere so was confused. They just wanted my resume and wouldn't tell me anything. I gave them a resume but didn't really pursue it as my daughter was 10 and I didn't want to be away on the road all the time. Later found out it was for being the Tour Manager of Soundgarden.

Loved the guys in Soundgarden, at least most of the time. Chris Cornell had his demons plus Ben & Kim had their own little quirks. Nice guys who were not difficult to do shows with. But the big issue would have been Cornell's wife as she was one of the biggest Beavers walking this planet. Such a fucking bitch. She would have driven me nuts when she was on tour with Chris. Many behind the scenes blame her for his suicide as Chris loved that She-Devil with all of his heart and she was not good for him, or anyone else.

Found this picture in an old article. Thats Shock G on the right from Digital Underground and on the far left in the sunglasses is Money B. Made me chuckle as we found his sunglasses a couple days later behind a couch in the Green Room. And I still have those glasses.

I thought you owned 8150. I don't know if you had mentioned it before or I put 2 and 2 together but anyway it's too bad it was a really cool place.
