5* WR Demond Demas CB to

Yeah but when is the last time a highly rated JUCO receiver has actually done anything significant here that doesn't involve being nice in interviews?
Mo Purify. I am not excited about taking this guy though. Dont want to become last chance u

Brandon Kinnie? So it's been a bit
Yeah. Kinne, Purify. There have been a few hits, but a lot more misses.

Then there are guys like Omar Manning. Came here as the No. 2 overall JUCO croot and never lived up the billing. But he had his flashes (great TD catch vs. Oklahoma with a defender draped on him) and was an excellent blocker. I think we'd take him on our team right now.

If he can keep himself out of trouble for a year at Garden City I think he is worth the risk. Rhule is on record that he is willing to take these types of kids and give them a shot so I think people need to get used to it.

Some may blow up in your face like Gilbert, others may get their life in order and the football program will have played a major role in them becoming successful and overcoming their earlier fuck ups.

I have no problem taking a few risks a year.
Lavonte David and Randy Gregory is my reason why. Shit happens when you are young. I’ll never say someone can’t turn it around at that age if they want it bad enough.
Lets not forget Lawrence Phillip heinous crime that wasn't bad enough for him to not play again for the Husker. He did far worse than Demas. Add Christian Peter to that List of players who got in trouble in high school and college including charges of 3rd degree sexual assault. Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rogers was arrested for robbing a gas station, while he was in school. Lets not forget Lawrence Phillips. Damon Benning made some mistakes as he was accused of beating his girlfriend. Tom Osborne hid a gun in his desk for Tyrone Williams who was under investigation for use of a weapon to commit a felony. We know dam well that Richie Incognito was all kinds of crazy in the head but somehow managed to last a few years on the team. Many of our best players have had serious issues that didn't prevent them from playing.

I suppose I should acknowledge that Matt Rhule is also not Scott Frost when it comes to managing JUCO WRs.....atleast I hope he's not

I was just going to say this. If you look at Matt Rhule and his background, I don't think that Nebraska has had a Head Football Coach that is closer in his background and his desire to help young men since TO.

Rhule is definitely much more capable of putting a clearly defined process in place and making sure that we're doing what we're supposed to be doing for support than any of the coaches we've had since.

That doesn't mean that it's always going to work out, either with behavior or with success on the field, but I have a lot more confidence in Rhule's ability to have some success than anyone prior to him.

There honestly haven't been too many disciplinary issues on the team this year. A few in spring that were dealt with easily.

The only legal issue that I remember was Gilbert and that seemed to have basically nothing to do with the football program, in fact, the football program was probably a net positive in that situation for Gilbert and it didn't go bad until it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to play.

Rhule keeps a pretty tidy ship.

No wonder Dean is defending this guy’s history of beating up girls
Dean going with “the charges were dropped”
in other words some aTm oil $ made it go away, if he went away
But the girls dad attacked him at his hearing & mom popped one is his relatives in her face
Yeah “nothing happened”…

…& there was another girl previously
& a drug charge
& he didn’t attend class @ aTm

Weird offer
It’s not gonna work & hopefully he doesn’t come here & beat up a Nebraska girl..
We should go all in with him... That way when it blows up in our face we have an excuse for Satterfield being awful.

Just no more white receivers.

maybe-ehhh.gif

I believe Damon Benning sat and watched an ex girlfriend key his car and didnt do a thing. I believe all accusations were retracted. I also believe that mentioning someone who is well respected and still in the area with a kid being recruited in the same breath as beating a girlfriend is something you shouldn't take so lightly. Perhaps you should look that up before you type it.
