Yeah I thought Hunter had been seriously injured on that play. He flew into a wall almost head first on a fade route, but after a minute he got up and jogged back.
Yeah that play was a little nerve wracking. There was a DB who got banged up to but I don’t remember the number.

This was five years ago. Feel old yet?

Season 2 Seriously GIF by SHOWTIME

Of course we are hearing the expected names lately but I'm concerned about a few we don't seem to be hearing much about....(granted I don't read or listen to absolutely everything)

Some guys we need to be good when the season comes

DL Jeudy
LB Watson-Trent
OLB McGahee

Other dudes who have an opportunity

RB Parker (has there been an injury update?)
DBs Take your pick of the young guys. I've heard about the older transfers but none of the young guys have stepped up?

Are they still here category

Maverick Noonan???

Parker has been and still is out with an injury.

Watson-Trent will be starting, which is as close as we can get to a hit on a transfer player at this stage.

McGahee seems to be a 1A/1B at OLB. Or at very least fast follow sub for McCullough. Rhule's comments on him make me feel fine there.

So who is not going to be starting? Wright and Shavers were the first-team ILB's Saturday. Butler (or was is Rhule?) called Wrigth a cheat code with his ability to cover as a LB. And Shavers is Shavers.

Wasn't it Watson-Trent that isn't as good of a cover guy? Could be a case where he plays obvious run downs and Wright plays obvious passing.

I think regardless we can expect lots of rotation anyway so it really doesnt matter.

What I saw from Saturday coverage was Watson Trent and Shavers at LB 1. You might have better info if you were there in person, but part of that I'm sure is difficulty in extrapolating from one practice. I would bet either way we'll have a solid rotation at the LB spot. Similar at Jack between McGahee and McCullough.

I was not there. Just going by others' reports.

***Keona Davis, Cameron Lenhardt, and Elijah Jeudy made up the top defensive line, with Marques Watson-Trent, Javin Wright, and Dasan McCullough as the top linebackers. However, during NU’s inside run drills, Vincent Shavers, Willis McGahee IV, and Jacob Bower saw substantial reps.

So I guess now I've seen reports of every combination of the three ILB's listed as starters. No reason they are necessarily correct and you're wrong, though. It seems pretty obvious all three will be major factors.

lol yeah, here's what SI had.

At linebacker, Georgia Southern transfer Marques Watson-Trent appeared to be locking down the middle linebacker role, flanked by sophomores Willis McGahee IV and Vincent Shavers Jr. Watson-Trent, one of the most experienced defenders in all of college football, looked right at home as the veteran leader of the unit. McGahee IV, likely slotted into the “Jack” hybrid pass-rusher role, and Shavers, a more traditional linebacker, both flashed as true freshmen last fall and seem poised to take the next step.

Safe to say some media derp here and probably decent rotation should be expected at all the LB spots.
