I would have had a better chance of understanding that if they had sat there and read Shakespeare to each other in Greek.

Had to blow off the dust off Grandpa's ol' Urban Dictionary for this one:

shadow boxing​

a type of game played in many high schools where the goal is to make your opponent look in the direction you point. you start by play rock paper scissors, whoever wins goes first. both players start rubbing their hands together. the winner of the rock paper scissors will quickly point in a direction, if the opposing side looks in that direction, they lose, if they look the opposite way, it’s now their turn. they do the same thing and switch back and forth until someone loses.

So I think the sound effect are unnessesary but just done to further distract the opponent.
