From Pete Nakos:
These are not RPMs, but where these players are trending if today were National Signing Day. The nature of the transfer portal is as fluid as it has ever been, and NIL deals can quickly alter destinations.

Pitt DL Jahsear Whittington

A former four-star recruit, Nebraska has emerged as the team to beat to land Pitt defensive tackle Jahsear Whittington. The 6-foot, 270-pound defensive lineman posted 12 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery in 2025. The Cornhuskers were able to get Whittington on campus this weekend, and Matt Rhule’s program sits in a good spot.
Calling My Shot: Nebraska
Confidence Level:
Medium

I'm not normally negative but why is every guy we're into only have 1-2 sacks and a few tackles

it doesn’t help when recruits go onto twitter and see the collective fanbase griping about everything. Like almost no support. Easy to negatively recruit against us right now.
Lol the comments on Raiola’s commitment post to Oregon… no bueno

If, say, Minnesota offered more money to a top DL than Oregon did, but the player chose Oregon, would you view that as an indictment of the Minnesota staff from your perspective?

I can't see what the difference between that and our situation from the eyes of a 20 year old.
Depends on how much more. If the difference is large then yes I would view that as an indictment of the Minnesota staff.

If Minnesota didn't have their fucking DL coach hired by the second week in january, you bet your ass I would.

I know the official narrative coming out of north stadium on the DL hire is making its rounds but its horseshit. We were not ready to make this hire. Coming off the end to the season it was unacceptable.

Rhule hasn't had a bad Dline in his career until this year, but that's been on the back of developing players. He's not equipped to move quickly in the portal era. Thats my assement, and im not sure he's capable developing this program commensurate with resources at his disposal

yes, it's hard to get back from where we were.
Rhule’s gamble was that the program would take off in year 3. Obviously that didn’t pan out.

It’s part of the reason it was so surprising that he took the risky path on DC. I imagine he thought continuity was the more conservative play, but he needed to get a Cignetti “production over potential” guy there to make year 3 what he wanted it to be.

I know he didn’t like the term “reset”, but that is most definitely what is happening now. Hopefully his faith in Dana isn’t misplaced because he can’t afford another reset on the offense next year too.

Maybe DL coaches were no more excited about being here than the players.

Rhule has to be very concerned with the situation at DL. He tried to get ERob and the Auburn guy. He’s not an idiot.

It has to be humbling for a guy who prides himself as a salesman to keep hearing “no” at a position he thinks he knows as well as anyone.

Because we couldn’t spend the amount of money required to bring in proven production, like programs that win at a high level do.
Which is odd. We have money. We are a program with top 10 revenue and we always hear reports about how we're one of the only programs in the black. We hear other reports about how we netted $15M last year or whatever.

I get that conservative fiscals gets you into a black position, but you still have to drive forward to produce more or the income is going away.

Maybe the AD sees it as, "We're in the B1G so our revenue isn't going away, just don't overspend" or something.
