Definitely a tight rope to walk though because they can't end up with a DL/Edge situation like they had this year
I think you have to take some of both. Especially at spots where we are taking multiple. You can get more for you money this way and build some depth.
Past production doesn't always equal future success.
But if we are taking 1 at a position like WR, you probably want some production.
Maybe I'm just too simple for all this but shouldn't the "strategy" be buy the best players our money can buy at each position? Worked out well for Oregon and Texas Tech. Sure it would be nice to be able to Cignetti and find three stars and turn them into future high draft picks but really we don't have that kind of eye for talent on staff so lets not try to be the smartest team during the portal season because we aren't.
If they bring some young guys in from the portal I'm good with potential but most of the portal guys need to have some production especially with the money that's being thrown around.
Hopefully they can get most of the potential guys from the high school recruits. And most of the portal guys are production.

Targets are pointless, change it to confirmed visitors and it’s a lot more useful.
You're right he shouldn't have said it that way. It sets an unreasonable expectation with some of the fan base that they have unlimited money. Then when someone like White goes somewhere else there's questions and then inevitably someone like Sip is going to ask him about it in a presser.
Ours fans keep forgetting that Rhule isn’t talking to the fans. He’s trying to signal to recruits and agents so we can get a foot in door.
The portal isn’t target where you go in and buy the players you want. There has to be interest no matter how much money you have.
