I understand competition, but what was the point of signing him.
Low risk, high reward.

You sign them to keep the instate connections going by saying we still recruit Nebraska kids. Then after a year or two of not working out if they don't work out, we can cut them because 'hey, we need to win by having players step up.' If they do work out, great, you have a good roster player from the state of Nebraska.

I get it. I should have asked, what was the point in signing him specifically. Probably should take a flyer on a Millard South kid if we're hoping for an old school walk on situation.
 
Why is high school talent in Nebraska so bad?
Local media seems to over inflate them every year
