Unless they're jumping in with a "do not contact" tag, I suspect that most end up elsewhere. They'll get contacted regardless but the do not contact is basically only used when you've been tampered with enough to want to not be annoyed a lot

It's my only hesitation this year about the portal. There's a lot of dudes already in but are they just following their coaches to a new spot. If not I don't want to hear any excuses why NU couldn't get a guy that was needed at position xyz this year.

Exactly, it sucks but doing it the "Nebraska Way" isn't going to cut it in today’s college football.
I think only a relatively small minority of guys typically jump in just to follow a coach. It seems more likely that the change in coach triggers a decision to examine all the options out there. Then it becomes a decision about location and money and opportunity. If they liked their old coach that's a plus for his new school but it won't outweigh everything else.
That's my thinking but you hear a lot about them "following their coaches" so that makes me pause a little.
Some percentage will but I'd bet the cream of the crop ends up elsewhere. Like when Fony left us last year and the best prospect, Princewill, went to a playoff team, a solid one took the bag in Baton Rouge and Fony ended up just landing James "The Hurrier" Williams

I don’t think I would be a very good college GM… I think I want every DL over 295lbs that doesn’t look like a tub of lard. We’d probably have 35 interior DL if I was in charge. 🤣
