2024 offense

What has been Satterfield’s best offense and why would I expect his 2024 offense to be better than average at best?

Better personnel should lead to better offensive production but I’m not convinced Satt’s playcalling is geared towards efficiency.
USCjr iirc 38th in scoring and 71st in total.

Supposedly that’s the year somebody took over play calling toward the end.

What do you think about Piper's injury? I don't see, and especially this staff in particular, them rushing him back from as nasty of an injury it was.
Yeah, this staff is very slow to bring guys back (which isn’ta bad thing). I haven’t asked about a recovery on him and what that looks like.

To me interior you need to see what Sledge and Luto can give you. I think long term Jenkins moves to center when Scott moves on and you have Sledge at OG.

But there are rumors as well they were using intel gained from Connor Stallions and USC jr defense all had wrist bands on for the first time ever in a game.

Is it safe to say Spencer Rattler is an above-average QB? My feeling is that a post-Oklahoma Rattler is about the caliber of QB we can expect from this staff in a good year.

To me, that is not a great indicator of where this offense is going to go. Obviously, there's a lot of "feelings" in my opinion but Satt's offensive stats don't necessarily paint a great picture.

I saw a mock draft that had Rattler in the 1st round.

So in Satts previous 5 years as a Fbs oc he has had an NFL caliber QB 4* out of 5 years. He is usually about a 70th overall offense

The NoFaux Callahan said late last week that based on the severity of the damage to Piper's knee, it was doubtful Piper could play next year

The offense needs a big shot in the arm next year. I’d say every skill position needs a transfer player that is capable of starting right away. QB: obviously. Wouldn’t mind a whole new room. WR: even though the young core there is good I don’t think it’s good enough in 2024. A one year S Toure type is what I’d be hunting for. A go to option when you need a 1st down. RB: need 2 good ones. Position gets hurt easily. Stack it. EJ is fine but he can’t carry the load. TE: took a shot on Gilbert, thaaaaat didn’t work out, but adding another one year guy that can block and give some production would be a big help.

Can’t really focus on the 2023 team anymore. Can the 2024 offense be fixed with a few good transfers? It could possibly get to mediocre next year.

Let’s assume the following
  • Sims transfers
  • Harberg goes back to TE
  • Teddy transfers
  • 2 RBs transfer or medically retire
  • Assume IGC, Washington etc are gone
It can be almost salvageable and paper thin. Matt Davidson better not fuck the program with shitty nil deals for transfers.

QB
  1. ?transfer
  2. Purdy
  3. ?transfer
  4. Kaelin
RB
  1. EJ
  2. ?transfer/hs
  3. ?transfer/hs
  4. Kiwinten Ives

X
  1. Jaylen Lloyd
  2. Alex Bullock
  3. Isaiah McMorris
Z
  1. Malachi Coleman
  2. Transfer
  3. Dae’Vonn Hall
Slot
  1. Jaidyn Doss
  2. Jacory Barney
  3. ?
TE
  1. Thomas Fidone
  2. Heinrich Haarberg
  3. Carter Nelsin
  4. Nate Boerkircher
LT
  1. Transfer
  2. Gunnar Gottalla
LG
  1. Justin Evans-Jenkins
  2. Ethan Piper
C
  1. Ben Scott
  2. Sam Sledge
RG
  1. Transfer
  2. Turner Corcran
  3. Henry Luto
RT
  1. Bryce Benhart
  2. Tyler Knaak

I think Scott is moving on.

LT - Teddy
LG - Piper
C - Evans-Jenkins
RG - Corcoran
RT - Benhart

Lutovsky might play RG with Corcoran at LG depending on Piper's recovery.

I think a mid-late round NFL QB is the ceiling from Satterfield, that's an improvement, but I don't think it's what we're hoping for long-term.

Could be that's all we need, though. An NFL roster type who's more of a game-manager.

If we drop Kaelin do we lose a Bell West connection for years to come? He hasn't been very impressive
there's no real need to drop him, but we shouldn't hesitate to either bring in another freshman or at least a younger transfer. if you are only bringing in 1 HS QB over a 2 year period he needs to be a hell of a lot better than Kaelin

Teddy stays. You would be crazy to let a homegrown OT transfer. OTs are hard to come by, and he is improving with play.
He's still only a sophomore eligibility wise right? I don't get the all hope is lost for Teddy. Think his body is healthy now but it's taking time for his brain to realize his body is healthy.
